The Muss Bus rolled over between Figueroa and Flower streets last night, as Illinois routed USC, 101-65.
It was the largest Big Ten road win for Illinois since 1946 when the Illini defeated the University of Chicago, 70-28.
Now USC was without Chad Baker-Mazara (knee), who wasn’t even at the game. And Alijah Arenas played only 18 minutes after being bothered by illness.
“I didn’t think USC played well on either side of the ball,” Eric Musselman said. “It’s pretty simple. We were not good enought tonight. We’ve got to get better in all aspects. We’ve got to figure out how we can play better basketball at home than what we’ve done.”
It wasn’t a great night for new USC president Beong-Soo Kim or Caleb Williams to be in attendance.
But the worst part was the atmosphere. Illinois fans were louder than USC fans at the outset and things really deteriorated at halftime when many students left after getting a free jersey.
This was the scene at the end of the game. Remember, Purdue fans also took over the Galen Center earlier this season.

As with Purdue, this is the first appearance for Illinois in Los Angeles, so naturally it will be a big draw at least initially, which will wear off over time

KAM: Why would it wear off when they get to see their Illini beat SC over and over?
DON: Now they can advertise every winter on all the billboards in snowy Illinois, ” Fly Delta To See Disneyland and the Illini Win”.

Scott, are you saying that USC has bad fans or a bad team or bad coaching with two star players absent because we lost to a top ten team by a lot of points with actually three star players sick or injured. Would you have been happier if we lost by a 30 points, but the fans stayed and cheered until the final buzzer. By the way were you at the game and stayed until the final buzzer? Even with our star players, we would have probably lost to a superior team, but that is life, you win some and you lose some, but you don’t make yourself feel better by always trying to imply blame on others. Please grow up and be a real journalist like you were taught at the USC School of Journalism. By the way, do you still like the UGLA coach who lost by a lot to Michigan State, but chewed out one of his players in public. At least Muss doesn’t blame a player in public for mistakes.
