Morning Buzz: Does USC Just Have More Money Or Better Recruiters?

When Eric Henderson went to the Washington Commanders, people lamented USC losing his recruiting prowess.

When Chad Savage recently got a promotion, people said his recruiting ability was one of his biggest attributes.

Hard to argue since USC just had the No. 1 recruiting class.

But multiple reports say USC spent as much or more money as any team in the country on NIL with the 2026 recruiting class.

For years, people who don’t like Oregon always say the Ducks bought players when they got a prized commitment.

So isn’t it the same with USC?

Did the recruiters at USC become better or did they just have more money to spend like when they gave tight end Mark Bowman $1.5 million?

    1. I hope USC is even more than competitive, 67 —I hope we buy the best team in football ….a team so good that it’s coach-proof in the red zone.

    2. USC always had the edge in recruiting in the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s because the players could get jobs in the movies. Our School of Cinema was our competitive edge. Pete recognized this and capitalized on it. thanis Trojan1967. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

  4. Scott, don’t you know? USC has become Lib Central. Just as Demoncrats, we have one set of rules for Oregon (& everyone else) and another set of rules for us!

  5. Scott, are you happy or complaining about USC having more money than other teams for NIL. Of course, we want USC to have more money, we want them to be the Dodgers of college football in the new NIL age in the sport. Except for Miami and possibly FSU, the ACC is singing fast because of the money they don’t have. The conferences with the biggest endowments have the biggest donors. If the Ivy League valued football, they could be a top conference; same with Stanford, if they weren’t so snobby. All you need are a few billionaire donors. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962
