USC Baseball Loses First Game Of Season

When it was announced USC would play a doubleheader today, that didn’t bode well for the Trojans’ undefeated season.

After winning the first game, 2-0, the Trojans lost the second game, 2-1, with the late innings played in snow flurries. This was worse weather than Lincoln Riley ever endured in the Big Ten.

USC’s 19-game winnng streak tied the longest in program history.

The pitching was excellent this weekend and we are heading to a showdown April 3-5 when USC plays No. 1-ranked UCLA. This will show just how good USC really is.

  • As expected, USC received a commitment today from five-star athlete Honor Fa’alave-Johnson from San Diego Cathedral Catholic High School.

He is projected as a safety but with his speed, I would like to see him on offense.

    1. Yeah, don’t go with the philosophy of the last successfull coach we had, who always put his best athletes on defense.

Let’s keep going with Riley’s failed methods.

    2. He is 5’11” and 170 lbs, so even if he grows to 6′, 185 by the time he enters, he may be too small for safety.

    1. KAM: Another reason why joining the Big Ten was an idiotic move for USC.

DON: USC is the only Big Ten team in the top 25. If we were set on leaving the Pac 12, we should have joined the SEC and then we would be playing top ten baseball programs like Miss St, Texas, Auburn , Georgia, Oklahoma and Arkansas in warm weather. It can still snow all he way down to Chicago a month from now.

  1. kudos to the gutty Bruins who almost made the Big 10 finals despite losing their two best players to injury. but it sets us up for a big Dance run!!!

    1. Hey lunchbag the record was 19 – 0 before the loss 1 – 2 in the 2nd game of the DH….

BTW check this pearl from ‘the peckerwood’ he gave to ‘Valerie Kondos Field’ after 9/11

This gem courtesy of IBD 12th June 2025

“She’d had plans to hold a team meeting that morning aimed at setting the team on the right course for the year ahead by diving into hard-core practice. But with the terrorist attack news so fresh, she figured that idea was out the window. She phoned the ultra-experienced Wooden for his advice about what she could possibly say on this horrific day that might be inspirational to her team.

“Listen to your heart,” Wooden said.”

…..says is all doesn’t it? like ‘….keep shooting for the stars!’ ‘….never give up!’
      ‘…..I paid last time…’

Here’s my favorite ‘Sam Gilbert? Never heard the name before….”

      1. Wooden not knowing about Gilbert is about as believable as Joe’s inner circle not knowing about his dementia long before he was in office.

      2. Not true, So Cal. It was really, really, really hard to tell there was something wrong.

      3. KAM: Or Pete not knowing that Reggie Bush and Lendale White were being paid hundreds of thousnads of dollars and Reggie’s parents were given a house by Lloyd Lake.

DON: Attacking John Wooden is never a good look for Trojan Fans. There is so much else to mock.

      4. KAM: Pete, the most brilliant, hands on football coach of his generation, also didn’t know nothing when Reggie and LenDale’s successor at RB, Joe McKnight, had his 2006 Land Rover SUV lent to him by a marketing representative parked outside the practice facility with the emergency lights flashing as the players and coaches walked by and Pete stopped to chat with his star running back.

DON: That strains creduility. Wooden, McKay, Robinson and Carroll all knew of payoffs going to players. That’s why it’s a loser for us SC Fans to point the finger at Wooden.

      5. The issue about Wooden and Gilbert is that Wooden simultaneously encouraged the media and the basketball profession to consider him flawless, while giving Gilbert access to the locker room. Bobby Knight and Dean Smith couldn’t stand the double standard that Wooden was given by the NCAA, and for good reason.

      6. Proposed Compromise:

… NCAA erases all UCLA’s Championships under Wooden… bans all recruiting for three years….

        And….

….We never criticize Wooden ever again.

      7. KAM: Pete did the same thing,  encouraged the media and the football profession to consider him flawlesswith his “Win Forever” Cult nonsense with disciple Yogi Roth.

DON: And his midnight ministry to the gangs… remember that? That was a cover to visit his coed .

  2. lots of buttt-hirt trOXzns sounding off! personally, i find trOXan tears to be sugary sweeet, i add 2-3 drops into my coffee in the morning!!

why all the angst about baseball’s first loss??? did you Dummies think SC was going to go undefeated?? HAWR HAWR!!! i think what the trOXans fear is the familiar pattern of going into a tailspin once league play starts!! just watch Bruin baseball and pretend you’re a Bruin (in the privacy of your home) i’m ok with that!
