Morning Buzz: Over/Under Win Total For USC

The over/under for regular season wins for USC is 8.5 according to MGM Grand. Imagine that number if USC still played Notre Dame.

  • Cornerback Danny Lang of Mater Dei is expected to commit to USC today.
  • Former long-time USC assistant coach Jason Hart has been hired as associate head coach at SMU, where he will be reunited with Andy Enfield. He has been an assistant coach at Kentucky.
  • Jazzy Davidson has been named USBWA National Freshman of the Year.

She joins JuJu Watkins, Sarah Strong, Maya Moore, Cheryl Miller and Candace Parker as the only freshmen in women’s college basketball history to record at least 500 points, 150 rebounds, 100 assists, 50 steals and 50 blocks.

  • USC baseball lost to Oregon State, 12-4, Tuesday. The Trojans didn’t use their top pitchers but also finally had a to play a top 2tcornerback Danny Lang.

  1. I see Hart in anything NCAAF related and I always think of Kevin Hart, the guy who had a press conference to announce his commitment to Cal over Oregon, when neither school had recruited him.

I could see our favorite poster doing something like that.

Perhaps its time to put a lock on the liquor cabinet.

  2. If Patterson takes over, imagine: Getting rid of an ‘offensive genius’ coach and replacing him with highly respected defensive coach down on his luck and looking for his comeback.

Where have I seen this before?

  3. Hard to believe that Jazzy Davidson had over 150 rebounds and 50 blocks as a freshman point guard but she did. She actually led the team in rebounding. Time to get her some help in the front court.

  4. A coach’s life consists of multiple stops around the country. Hard to imagine packing up and leaving for another state every few years or so, especially with a family

  5. Jazzy Davidson– needs to get stronger next year so she can take over the games completely in the 4th qtr. If she does gets stronger she will go down as one of the great ones with her skill.

Muscleman– blows it again. Jason Hart was a great recruiter at SC, and the players loved him. Big mistake to let Enfield at SMU grab him away from Kentucky, and not even make him an offer. Musselman, probably knows hiring Hart would mean for sure he will be hiring his successor after 1 more season at Troy.

I would not be shocked if Muscleman hires Kevin ONeil back to USC to replace the assistant who just left for the Cal State U Bakersfield job.

  6. Makes sense the MGM Grand position of 8.5, until facts prove otherwise it warrants skepticism. I’ll bet the same oddsmakers have ‘the princess’ at 11+ huh?

Per the OR St. beatdown on the diamond – best to get a real head knocking in mid-March than mid-May…i.e. USC doesn’t play any real ntl’ powers save Ucla….OR St, GA, MS St., TX, MS, GA Tech, VA, FL St., Auburn…..the Big10 has always been historically weak in baseball because of their locations the power is in the SEC..

    Good wake up.

  7. Scott, imagine what the over/under would be for ND if they had to play the USC schedule or any Big Ten schedule. Miami and Clemson, yes that Clemson that is tanking, are the two ranked teams on the ND schedule along with wannabe BYU.

Great get for the staff if they can keep a fence around the Mater Dei program along with all of the other SoCal premier programs. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

P.S. Thanks for the report on the pitching against Oregon State. The top pitchers have the upcoming three game weekend series against Maryland with first place in the Big Ten on the line. Coach Andy is developing pitching depth.
