Pete Carroll Returning To Coliseum

Pete Carroll is returning to the Coliseum! Unfortunately, he won’t be coaching a USC game.

Carroll has been named commencement speaker for the USC Marshall School of Business. The ceremony will be at the Coliseum, fittingly.

“I am fired up to return to USC and the L.A. Coliseum, the place where we competed, won, and shared lifelong memories with the Trojan Family,” Carroll said.

This raises an interesting question: Has Lincoln Riley ever attended a USC commencement? Carroll attended ceremonies when he was USC’s coach and now has been chosen to speak at two USC graduations.

    1. Pete: “President, faculty, honored graduates —I stand here today to talk —not of times long past —but of times recent. I’d like to say some words about my life as Raider Coach….”

  1. oh, nice wolfman, now you got all these Dummies weeping into their bottles of Ensure!! not nice to tease them with a provocative headline like that, wolfman!! we all know the trOXans haven’t done squat since Petey got rid of Norm Chow, and that was the last time the trOJans were of any consequence!!!

i’ve been thinking wolfman, instead of torturing the Dummies with dreams of ancient history, why not face up to reality?? i think we both know the only chance the trOXans have to win anything is to move to the Mountain West Conference!! that’s where they play finesse football and SC with it’s 23 HS All-American WR’s can actually string some wins together! we all know if the game turns into a smashmouth affair, the trOXans disappear!! they don’t got the Hoby Brenners or Keith Van Horns anymore to win in the rough and tumble Big-10!!

    1. Oh…so the category is ancient history? Can I play?

When was the last time UCLA won the Rose Bowl? Was it in this century? [Answer: Hardly].

USC has one: A thriller against highly ranked Penn State.

      1. KAM: And now the Granddaddy of Them All, the Rose Bowl, has been relegated to being a lowly tradition bereft playoff game.

DON: So UCLA or USC will never ever win another Rose Bowl because it doesn’t exist any more.

      2. UCLA: “The Granddaddy of Them All” sounds so elitist! Only football players who think they are “Kings” would want to play in something called by that name!

    2. Chuckster,

What century, decade, and year did the ruins play in the Rose Bowl on Jan 1? When was the ruins in contention? When was the last time that they had a winning record? If you have to, go to the ruins library and look it up. It’s been centuries.

  2. ucla Bucket is relishing SC’s recent years of futility due to ‘hamburger-type’ football players, but that is soon changing with the addition of ‘filet mignon’ footballers

    1. KAM: John Robinson wasn’t bad either 1976-1982.

DON:John Robinson led USC to three conference titles and four Rose Bowl victories from 1976 to 1982, finishing with a record of 67–14–2. His 1978 team also captured a share of the national championship.

  3. Bucket never changes. You would have thought after all these years he would have given in and become what he always really wanted to be, a Trojan. Still waiting for the guest pass for ladies night.
