USC Morning Buzz: Will He Stay Or Will He Go (They Usually Go)?

I heard yesterday that USC still did not know if Alijah Arenas was returning next season.

The deadline to declare for the NBA Draft is Friday night.

Most people I talk to at USC would be surprised if Arenas came back. It would be interesting to see if Colgate point guard Jalen Cox, who committed Thursday, would follow through and come to USC if Arenas returned. Cox had interest from UCLA, Kansas, Kentucky and SMU.

  • Neither Fox Network nor ESPN are interested in broadcasting the Holiday Bowl, which returns this year after a one-year hiatus. Why does this matter? Well, the old Pac-12 schools in the Big Ten (USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington) are still tied to the bowl game along with the other old Pac-12 schools.
  • Indiana is holding its spring scrimmage at the same time as the NFL Draft. So fans will be able to watch Fernando Mendoza get drafted at the stadium.

This feels like something Pete Carroll would approve of doing. But not Lincoln Riley.

      1. Says the only person whose mind went to “sick” thoughts, just because Wolfman posted a picture of Olivia Rodrigo and she thought she looked a lot younger than she is.

Always accusing others of what she is guilty. Doesn’t matter what name she uses when posting.

  1. Arenas and his dad are holding out for more money plain and simple. USC should pass/move on players like this who destroy team morale and unity. Arenas is not ready for the NBA so good luck in the G League. The reality is with the current state of the USC basketball program, and attendance USC cannot really afford to over spend on players or coaches that do not produce which include both Arenas and Musselman.

There is enough talent to compete in the conference next season, but I don’t think Musselman is much of a coach, but very good at spending USC’s money on players each and every team.

Even with Arenas who is still a very raw player USC will not make the NCAA tournament again this year with 6-7 new players again who will play major roles on the team. Just watch Musselman will be gone after this season he is not the right coach for USC Basketball.
