USC Notes: Basketball Adds Another Scorer, For Better Or Worse

Just to follow-up on this morning’s post where I noted how coaches do not want to compete.

One reason Lincoln Riley took the USC job was because he did not want to go to the SEC with Oklahoma. And he took the USC job before the Trojans moved to the Big Ten. So he gets no credit for playing a Big Ten schedule.

He also tried to get out of the LSU game last year but Fox refused. So spare me any defenses of Riley regarding competing or playing Notre Dame.

  • Lindenwood transfer guard Jadis Jones has committed to USC. He averaged 15.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game last season.

So I see at least four guards (Rodney Rice, Alijah Arenas, Jalen Cox, Jones) who probably think they are scorers for USC. That’s going to be quite a balancing act for Eric Musselman.

  • Former USC safety Will Harris has been promoted to secondary coach at the University of Miami.

  2. Gee Scott why don’t you tell us how you really feel about Lincoln Riley…..need a bit more ‘deep’ put downs you know?

    Consider you have through mid-September to mock Riley you know those first 4 matchups aren’t much huh? Won’t matter how big the beatdown you”ll just wait for that 26th September matchup against OR.

    I wonder what you’ll say should Riley win out i.e. gets to the Ntl Champ. Game.

Riley knows he HAS to beat Oregon this year, he knows if he fails he will be treated with contempt [and will deserve to be treated with contempt] –therefore he WILL beat Oregon this year—it really doesn’t matter if Oregon has a better team or a better coach —USC will beat them this year….because it will mean so much more to us than it does to them…it will be played in front of an insanely partisan crowd at home…and Patterson will add something new to the equation: a defense

        No. TX, Howard, We. KY, Northwestern, @ Rutgers then @ NE

        Then it’s 17th Oct. OH St. @ 24th Oct. MI., 31st Oct. MN then 1 week off finally USC 17th Nov.

        Point? IN has a very winnable run til OH St and in fact the toughest opponents they’ll face this year are OH St and USC both home games.

        Tough to repeat even as focused as Cignetti is…Riley knows this is: the year, the schedule, the defense, the offense and coaching staff that make or break one’s legacy – everything is THIS year…good post.

Gabby –The Supreme Court has repeatedly prevented candidates from identifying with a party they seek to undermine —calling such actions “fraud on voters.” It’s time for the Supreme Court to apply that reasoning to the Party itself rather than individual candidates within it. It’s time for the court to force the Democrat Party to label itself what it actually has become: The Revolutionary Communist Party.
