USC Morning Buzz: Let’s Look At Perhaps The Best Position On Team

One thing to keep in mind as USC talks to Notre Dame about possibly resuming the series in 2030.

One can assume it’s being done with the idea Lincoln Riley will not be the coach at USC. Riley’s reps put out feelers for other jobs after the season according to Andy Staples. And I don’t think USC would be too unhappy if he left.

  • I ran my depth chart of the linebackers and secondary yesterday. Now here’s a team strength: the defensive line. USC has depth and athleticism here.

I make a big call by putting true freshman Luke Wafle in the starting lineup. Wafle night not start right away but I think he will sooner or later.

DE/Kameryn Crawford*Jr./Zuriah Fisher, So.

NT/Jide Abasiri/Jr./Alex VanSumeren, Sr.

DT/Jahkeem Stewart/So../Floyd Boucard, So.

DE/ Luke Wafle/Fr./Braylan Shelby, Sr.

  1. If SC’s linebackers and secondary are only average, then it won’t matter much how good its defensive line is

      DON: Just like at USC and UCLA 2 years ago. Thanks, D e m o c r a t s.

  2. Here’s hoping we’re in talks with a big name coach to step in when he does leave. The talent & resources are there. Whomever we get needs to remember how small the window for mistakes is at SC. Bringing in Grinch & ignoring the local high schools in the first two years of his tenure set him up for failure.

    1. Yeah, lets go after another big name coach when a little known guy like Curt Cignetti may be available.

Look for guys who have taken lesser known programs and made them better, they are out there, but USC is too lazy to find one.

DON: All she did was speak publicly one time to go from 65% to 16%. Cowardly Gabby hardest hit!

  4. Bibles of truth coming from buddhakarma above. The next FB HC search needs to be a deliberate, well-researched, analyzed, and vetted hire. Must have a proven track record of winning with less. Winning attitude, drive, and energy, and preferably on the younger side, in the 30 to 50 range tops. LR is just not that guy. Neither was C&H. Nor Kiffin, and pH was not going to wait for him to mature. Sark either. The lazy AD approach to first hire from PCs former staff and hope things go for the best, and then to go with a name rather than character has buried the USC football program in mediocrity for 20 years, when we should be dominating all of CFB…
