Should USC Have Saved Its Ace For Tomorrow In Big Ten Tourney?

USC defeated Michigan State, 7-0, today in a quarterfinal game of the Big Ten Tournament.

Now comes the tricky part: USC should play UCLA tomorrow. The Bruins have been waiting all day to play Purdue but it’s been raining in Omaha, Neb.

Did USC coach Andy Stankiewicz consider not throwing ace Mason Edwards today against Michigan State and saving him for UCLA?

No. 2 pitcher Grant Govel is 10-2 with a 2.76 ERA so you would think he could handle Michigan State. But Stankiewicz probably wanted the sure thing to win Game 1.

It’s still would have been interesting to see Edwards pitch against UCLA.

        DON: The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said no tsunami was generated by the earthquake.

        A second, weaker magnitude 3.2 earthquake occurred six minutes later, just to the northwest of the first about 13 miles beneath the surface.

      2. Thanks for asking, my bud. No tsunami problems —but I’ve never “heard” an earthquake like this before —it went on for like 15 seconds making a noise like one of the torrential downpours we get here — just another weird a-s-s Maui event.

  4. KAM: Oregon track and field swept the men’s and women’s Big Ten Outdoor Championships on Sunday in Lincoln, Nebraska, completing a 2025-26 conference Triple Crown after also sweeping the Big Ten cross country and indoor track and field titles earlier this season.

    Since joining the conference ahead of the 2024-25 season, Oregon has now won 10 of the 12 available Big Ten championships across cross country, indoor track and outdoor track. The combined Triple Crown is the first by a Big Ten program since Wisconsin’s men and women pulled it off in 1996-97.

    DON: The Men of Oregon scored 121 points to win the team title by 40 points over Minnesota and Nebraska, who tied for second with 81. The Women of Oregon delivered a massive final day, scoring 91 points Sunday to finish with 110 and rally past Illinois, USC, Washington and Nebraska.

      Musk: “You don’t need college to learn stuff. Everything is available basically for free. You can learn anything you want for free.”

      For a thousand years, universities held one monopoly. Access. You paid the toll or you stayed ignorant.

      DON:The internet erased that in a decade. Every lecture. Every framework. Every textbook. Free. From any screen on Earth. The six-figure tuition is no longer buying knowledge. It is buying a signal.

  10. great question, wolfman, i was pondering the same when Bruins were down 3-1 to Purdue, of course we gutted it out, and now have our ace ready to go today. of course our starter against Purdue was All Big 10 also, but Savage always thinking 5-10 moves ahead.

  12. Scores can be deceptive as in the 12-4 bruin victory over the Trojans, but SC was in the game through 7 innings until turning into the ‘Keystone Cops’ in ucla’s huge 8th inning
