Should USC Have Saved Its Ace For Tomorrow In Big Ten Tourney?

USC defeated Michigan State, 7-0, today in a quarterfinal game of the Big Ten Tournament.

Now comes the tricky part: USC should play UCLA tomorrow. The Bruins have been waiting all day to play Purdue but it’s been raining in Omaha, Neb.

Did USC coach Andy Stankiewicz consider not throwing ace Mason Edwards today against Michigan State and saving him for UCLA?

No. 2 pitcher Grant Govel is 10-2 with a 2.76 ERA so you would think he could handle Michigan State. But Stankiewicz probably wanted the sure thing to win Game 1.

It’s still would have been interesting to see Edwards pitch against UCLA.

      1. If I find out it was one of those little freaks somebody’s gonna get a serious a-s-s beating [and it won’t be me]……

      1. KAM: -A magnitude 6.0 earthquake occurred about seven miles to the east-southeast of Honaunau in the South Kona area of Hawaii Island.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred at 9:46 p.m. It was centered about 3.7 miles east-southeast of the Honaunau-Napoopoo area along the western flank of Mauna Loa, at a depth of 14 miles.

DON: The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said no tsunami was generated by the earthquake.

A second, weaker magnitude 3.2 earthquake occurred six minutes later, just to the northwest of the first about 13 miles beneath the surface.

      2. Thanks for asking, my bud. No tsunami problems —but I’ve never “heard” an earthquake like this before —it went on for like 15 seconds making a noise like one of the torrential downpours we get here — just another weird a-s-s Maui event.

      3. Pacific Ring of Fire…we’re all going to die. Well, if the aliens don’t come and kill us all first.

I know a certain poster is hoping she gets to see that day, because it’s long been rumored that they have a thing for anal probing.

  1. –That was quite the 1-2 punch, 2 earthquakes only 6 minutes apart, and at a magnitude of ‘6’ this is a quake that will be carved into MG’s memory

  2. -Baseball outcomes are so unpredictable, but your odds of winning greatly improve when a team’s ace is on the mound. Pitching usually bests hitting

  3. KAM: Oregon track and field swept the men’s and women’s Big Ten Outdoor Championships on Sunday in Lincoln, Nebraska, completing a 2025-26 conference Triple Crown after also sweeping the Big Ten cross country and indoor track and field titles earlier this season.

Since joining the conference ahead of the 2024-25 season, Oregon has now won 10 of the 12 available Big Ten championships across cross country, indoor track and outdoor track. The combined Triple Crown is the first by a Big Ten program since Wisconsin’s men and women pulled it off in 1996-97.

DON: The Men of Oregon scored 121 points to win the team title by 40 points over Minnesota and Nebraska, who tied for second with 81. The Women of Oregon delivered a massive final day, scoring 91 points Sunday to finish with 110 and rally past Illinois, USC, Washington and Nebraska.

    1. KAM: Intelligence reports stated Venezuelan Dictator Maduro “feared” taking T r u m p up on his deal, because he was scared to be e x e c u t e d by his Cuban handlers When he was captured, he was being guarded by around 30-40 Cubans Now why on earth would the leader of a sovereign country be guarded and “handled” by guards from other countries?

DON: Because the only colonizers and imperialists for the past 67 years, are the same ones who have blamed the US for these actions: The Cuban Regime.

      1. Maybe we should phrase it like this: “the imperialist foreign powers behind the Cuban Regime.”

    1. KAM: Elon Musk just put the entire university system on trial. Not the curriculum. Not the professors. The premise.

Musk: “You don’t need college to learn stuff. Everything is available basically for free. You can learn anything you want for free.”

For a thousand years, universities held one monopoly. Access. You paid the toll or you stayed ignorant.

DON:The internet erased that in a decade. Every lecture. Every framework. Every textbook. Free. From any screen on Earth. The six-figure tuition is no longer buying knowledge. It is buying a signal.

  6. KAM: Silly sports talk, but you ever think of why does baseball play 162 games?– Wouldn’t, say, 120 games be sufficient to determine who is best?

DON: Or 82 games in basketball could be reduced to 60 games

  7. great question, wolfman, i was pondering the same when Bruins were down 3-1 to Purdue, of course we gutted it out, and now have our ace ready to go today. of course our starter against Purdue was All Big 10 also, but Savage always thinking 5-10 moves ahead.

  8. Mason and Grant are not baseball names. They sounds like kids who graduated from a privileged school on the east coast along with George Bush. We need names like Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantel, Willie Mays, Mookie Betts, Rocky Balboa, and Johnny Bench.
