Several people in the athletic dept. have joked that some who work there believe social engagement is more important than winning and losing.
If that is the case, can USC finally bury its slogan that “USC is the pLAce to be.”
It’s backfired when UCLA just won the women’s basketball title, its softball is in the College World Series and its baseball team is No. 1 in the nation.
I’m all for USC teams that achieve like the women’s water polo team, but it’s tone deaf to keep putting “LA” in a slogan when things are going the way they currently are. You are inviting ridicule.
If USC hadn’t won in football, imagine how bad it would be.
- Houston is expected to hire Lamar coach Will Davis as its baseball coach. That matters because USC pitching coach Sean Allen interviewed for the job.
- On Friday, I said every song seems better with strings. Let’s put it to the test: Here is A-ha singing their classic “Take On Me” with strings.

‘USC is the pLAce to be” includes more than the sports teams, it also features some academics

It’s funny— that didn’t even occur to me until you said it…

I think it has something to do with a couple of our “law” professors stating that the U. S. Constitution is “choking” citizen rights….

SC’s academic standing has slipped in the past few years, wonder why ?
Oh, maybe because they had a WOKE dunce President running the place who was more concerned with letting in massive amounts of commie Chinese and making sure the snowflakes who hate Israel were appeased ?
Not to mention huge sums of money spent on DEI and all the BS that goes with that.
SC’s dental school, once the top school in the country, is now 23rd, behind SUNY Buffalo, U of Connecticut, UT Health San Antonio & U of Rochester, that’s pathetic.
Business school, 25th
Law School, 26th
Medical School, 30th
All four of the schools I listed are ranked BEHIND ucla, and it’s not close, PATHETIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANKS FOLT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

USC could lose 3 games and still be a Top Ten Team if they win all their games at the Coliseum —-

KAM; The Huskies are ranked a preseason #12 with returning experienced starting QB Demond Williams Jr.
DON: The Huskies are building on a strong roster with 27 returning players who started at least once.

btw We HAVE to beat Oregon or the season will tailspin —none of this “we came so close!”….. none of this “we only lost by 1 point in double overtime!”
We have to WIN the game. It’ll be a huge monkey off our back if we BEAT Oregon!

wolfman, only you among the trOJies have the stones to freely admit UCLA owns LA and by virtue of our Beach Vollyball Natty, we own the beach too!! UCLA is taking the Big 10 by STORM!!!
cute how you cite football as the saving grace, wolfman! 9-4 with a loss in Alamo Bowl would have sent the Alumni storming Heritage Hall in the old days. now, this result is viewed as a moral victory!

We came SO close to winning that Alamo Bowl against that QB who had never started and their injured line….

USC has ranked teams in every NCAA sanctioned sport including basketball, and we have a football team that is ranked among the top 25 teams in the country. It is unrealistic to expect us to win a national championship in every sport, but the mere fact that we can compete in all sports should make every Trojan fan proud. Congratulations to all of our athletes and coaches for another great competitive year of college sports. Of course winning women’s and men’s golf titles, a baseball world series championship and outdoor titles in men’s and women’s track and field as well as women’s rowing would be very nice indeed. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

DON: Not that I’m all that interested, but this series between the 2 best basketball teams in the world is a fun study, I mean how do you explain San Antonio ‘Wenbying to death poor ol’ Oklahoma one night and then then 2-nights later they get mauled
