USC Kickoff Times Are As Bad As Expected

The USC-San Jose State game will kick off at 12 p.m. PT and be on NBC.

A noon kickoff on August 29th? Are they having a laugh? Will it be 100 degrees that day? Could they have come up with a more fan-unfriendly time to start a game in Los Angeles? No thank you.

The Louisiana game on Sept. 12 will start at 8 p.m. and be on the Big Ten Network. Also fan-unfriendly.

And the Rutgers game on Sept. 19 will be at 12:30 p.m. on CBS. Hopefully, it won’t be hot that day.

If these times stink, it’s what happens when you play terrible non-conference games.

Notre Dame is probably glad it didn’t agree to playing USC in Week 0 if a noon scorcher was a possibility. But the fanboys said Week 0 made perfect sense for the rivalry.

  1. KAM: I can’t wait to go to the Louisiana game and get home past 1AM. Talk about Fan Friendly!

DON: With all the commercials that game will definitely drag on until past 11PM.

  2. The best solution is don’t attend the lousy games like San Jose State, Louisiana, or Rutgers games. Not worth going or even watching on TV especially during the best beach weather time of the year or attend a Dodger game.

  3. I will give my tickets to the office manager, who will give them to the receptionist, who will give them to her two sons and suddenly two heavy tatooed gangbangers appear on television seated in the USC alumni section flashing gang signs at the cameras.

  4. Scott, you can’t have it both ways and then use the start times as a reason for your nonconference schedule agenda. You call the noon game as unfanfriendly due to the potential for heat and then turn around and call the 8:00 pm game fan unfriendly because it isn’t earlier in the day. Every fan knows that these are “preseason” games that are tune ups for a brutal conference schedule. If fans like to see victories and lots of points scored, they will come to the nonconference games, and of course most fans know that TV revenue supports college athletics. I’m surprised that you didn’t mention that ND could have played the first preseason game with USC if they didn’t act entitled, and if they did would you have preferred a noon or 8:00 pm start time? 2. KAM: Brainless rah rahs defend Riley Coyote.

DON: The only reason Riley Coyote ended the greatest rivalry in college sports was because he couldn’t beat them.

  6. DON: The real money in college football is in the television contracts. The gate money is just a bonus

KAM: -The colleges better have a boatload of money– did you see how some of these kids, especially in basketball, are signiing million-plus contracts. The schools are saying ‘Come to college and then Retire’
