Texas Tech has had communication with USC and Notre Dame about playing a home-and-home series, according to CBS Sports.
Now, let’s remember that Muleshoe, Texas, (home of Sir Lincolm of Riley) is only 68 miles from Texas Tech.
But . . . let’s also remember that Riley hates to play good teams, especially one with the NIL budget of Texas Tech.
Do you think Riley conspired to take Notre Dame off the schedule just to play Texas Tech? Does he want to risk a College Football Playoff bid by playing Texas Tech?
I can’t say it sounds plausible. This game goes against everything Riley has believed in since coming to USC.

KAM: Brainless rah rahs believe in a coach who went 1-3 against Notre Dame…
DON: And his solution was to end the 100 year tradition, the greatest rivalry in sports.

He asked that the game be moved to an earlier date which coach Freeman said was acceptable to him. You can’t play ND in Oct/Nov when you have to play 4 or 5 highly ranked BIG teams virtually back to back over a 6 or 7 week period. Riley’s request to re-schedule the match-up was necessary and reasonable.

KAM: That’s weird, John McKay did.https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/southern-california/1963-schedule.html…
DON: He didn’t fear any team.

Really don’t understand the objection to re-scheduling to an earlier date. It makes sense. No team would play the 1963 McKay schedule today. Texas played Ohio State in a non conference game a few years back, lost, and missed the playoff largely due to their non conference loss. They quickly cancelled the series. You want to play a tough schedule but not a ridiculous one that prevents you from making the playoffs.

KAM: What is the point of making the playoffs if your team doesn’t face adversity, become tougher and overcome it? To put up banners for making the playoffs? That’s what UCLA aspires to do.
DON: John McKay knew that. Riley Coyote collects $110 million to deliver championships and instead avoids competition and still fails to make the playoffs.

Scott, why is it always some kind of USC conspiracy regarding our football schedule, but never when ND wants to rig the scheduling so that they can be in the playoffs every year. Why doesn’t ND join a major conference….oh they like their traditional independent relationship with the corrupt NCAA and the money that they don’t have to share with conference members. By the way, why wasn’t Alabama investigated after their OL admitted to receiving money from boosters after he was drafted into the NFL? The SEC and the NCAA looked the other way because Bama was the headliner at ESPN. Scott, stop with the USC bashing. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

DON: Maybe Notre Dame football inventoried how much less money they’ll make with SC now off the schedule
KAM: Besides, who wouldn’t anxiously await an SC-Notre Dame game in September

Scooter,
SC has to get rid of muleshoes. I see that you stole that from Budda. He has cheapen the great heritage of SC by playing easier games. Even then he loses the luster.
