Should USC Play Texas Tech Given Current Events?

Last week, CBS Sports said Texas Tech has had communication with USC and Notre Dame about playing a home-and-home series.

The fanboys immediately cheered this idea.

But in light of today’s ruling on Texas Tech QB Brandon Sorsby, should USC (or Notre Dame) want to play a team like Texas Tech? Wouldn’t it be a black eye for a football program to go out of its way to play the Red Raiders?

I get that a college athletic dept. rarely knows anything about doing the right thing, but this isn’t the time to agree to a two-game series with Texas Tech.

It’s almost as if USC and Notre Dame should just play each other. Now there’s an idea!

  1. UDSC has agreed to play ‘the princess’ but you and most of the ntl’ media never admit that – rather the onus is all on USC rather than on ‘the princess’. There are more ADs and head coaches publicly stating their loathing of ‘the princess’ than in years past because of the ‘make room’ for ‘notre dame’ at: discussions on expanding the playoffs….NCAA compliance….media rights….’in cement’ annually given a play off slot regardless…in fact they had a female ringer embedded when the corrupt Paul Dee moved to crush USC in the wake of the Reggie Bush saga.

‘blank’ ‘the princess’….let’s watch how they do this year playing the weak schedule they do and see how they do in their guaranteed slot for then playoffs,

Ask Petey ‘the green elf’ Bevacqua how not just 2026 but 2027, 2028, 2029 etc are stacking up with other schools willing to play this aging hag queen.

      1. They’re not playing Auburn 2nd October they’re @ NC on the 3rd October. You’re confusing 2026 with 2027…..only BYU is in the current top 25 they’ll face in 2027….that’s it. In 2028 1st game home TX ….2029 1st game home AL 2 weeks late @ TX….
how’s that compared with any Big 10, SEC or even Big 12 playing?

This is why USC is in the driver’s seat – you’ve rammed your agenda down the ACC…you cherry pick who you’ll play and where…now you’re getting what you’ve cultivated ….you’re desperate to have any one watch your clown act after mid-October.
        You’ve had a free rid

e for decades – IN, IL, TX Tech, NC, WI USC MI MI St athletic directors and head coaches are through with this con game as is the entire ACC.

        You’re screwed…

      3. The Big Ten is probably the best conference at the moment —Washington, Oregon, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Penn State…and Ohio State. But, as the donald would say, it also has “some s-h-i-t teams”…..

  2. Since deliberately breaking rules means nothing.

    Since players can get paid.

    Since eligibility doesn’t matter.

I say SC fields Reggie Bush for the TX tech game. He’s got a year of eligibility left.

Isn’t Mike Williams part of the program? Field him too. One more one handed catch.

Give all the students a victory sign foam finger and have them fold one finger down.

Then the band can play Cee Lo Green’s F You with the entire stadium singing along.

Since NCAA is losing so much, SC should sue to get to get the 2005 season back.

    1. KAM: Congratulations to Brendan Sorsby for winning a temporary restraining order against the NCAA that will allow him to play for Texas Tech in 2026 despite years of high-volume sports wagering, an admitted addiction to gambling and even placing bets (including two on negative outcomes) on a team he was on.

DON: Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson want to know why they are banned from baseball.

  4. DON: Texas Tech. Notre Dame. ‘Bring ’em all on’ would have been the motto for the old SC football teams

KAM: SC had ferocious talent back in the day, McKay would stock the team with a bunch of high school All-Americans

  5. KAM: -By the way, ‘congrats on getting Iran and Israel to lay down their arms

DON: I tell them both to “stop shooting” and they stop shooting

  6. KAM: Coach McKay would actually recruit 2 All-Americans at the same position. For ‘competition’ I guess

DON: No, it wasn’t that– He’d say “To keep them away from ucla’

  7. DON: McKay is best remembered for that 1974 game with Notre Dame, a 55-24 win, a score Trojan fans know by heart.

KAM: –And if you can believe Trojan storytellers there must have been 500,000 Angelenos in attendance that day

DON: I did talk to a guy who really did attend that game, a Trojan who said as SC kept piling on the points in a mere 20-minutes was “so ridiculous” that he started to “laugh”

    1. Listen to Tom Kelly call the game on YouTube–when he announces USC going ahead 55-24….he laughs.

      1. KAM: MG, what was it like during the first half when we were getting humiliated 24-6 and then that amazing 3rd quarter comeback ?

DON; I still remember it, I was working and kept walking in the bar to see what was going on with the game and couldn’t believe the turnaround!

      2. My brother, who felt he had somehow cursed the sacred coliseum grass before the 51-0 Notre Dame blowout by running on the field before the game and pretending to catch a touchdown pass, said at halftime “You can’t put this one on me.”

When USC went ahead he said “I wish our Dad could be here!” Before my Dad’s death we all went to the games together.

      3. btw, I know what it’s like to be working during a big game — I was working during McKay’s 24-7 USC victory at South Bend. I heard the score at 7-0 Notre Dame at halftime —next time I checked the radio the Notre Dame band was playing the USC Fight song [!!] and Tom Kelly was saying “I guess if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em” —and, before I even heard the score, I knew we had won!

  9. Scott, I agree with you that USC should not play Texas Tech as one of their nonconference games, but I don’t care what ND does. ND would probably want to play them to bolster their weak schedule. USC doesn’t need Texas Tech or ND on their schedule because we have plenty of highlight games in the Big Ten. Texas Tech is like the new wealth rich people who want to buy into the old wealth realm like joining the old wealth country club for their image. By the way, Scott os so right to ask why Mason Edwards did not pitch even one inning in the third game. He had pitched less than four innings in eight days. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

    Liked by 1 person

  10. KAM: SC’s Coach ‘Stan the Man’ said before the game that pitcher Edwards was “not available” for that 3rd game. Not everybody is capable of pitching on short rest or maybe the kid had something wrong with his arm

DON: Close games always have “What if…” moments

  11. got to hand it to you, wolfman! only you could suggest with a straight face, that SC not play TTech on “moral grounds”!! frankly, the first thing that comes to mind when musing the history of scandal plagued SC is their moral turpitude!! from OJ and Mr Reggie to the dark history of Nazi sympathizers Cromwell and Herr Von Klien Schmidt, it is surprising the morally upright Rudys continued to play the trOJies for all those years!!
