Will USC Increase Its Commitment To Baseball?

With baseball still on people’s minds, will USC invest more NIL in the baseball program after its playoff run?

Former USC pitcher Cade Aoki is at the College World Series with Georgia. After last season, some USC players transferred. It wasn’t just NIL but there were also concerns about the amount of money invested into the baseball program.

So let’s see if USC gets more transfers this summer.

  • Former USC president Max Nikias will be at Vroman’s bookstore in Pasadena on Saturday at 3 p.m. to promote his book, “American Trojan.” This serves as an official warning if you are in the area.

  2. It’s too bad that Seaver, Johnson, McGwire and our other hall of famers from years ago were not able to earn the salaries that big stars earn now. We need baseball boosters who have the money to invest in NIL contracts. It is like USC is building from scratch and not a legacy. The past two years under Coach Andy are definitely a start, especially if a player like Mason Edwards can get a big bonus contract. That was a good reason to not endanger his arm by pitching with only two days rest. I can understand playing the long game as long as Coach Andy is paid to stay with the program for the long haul. Let’s get a track and field championship again this weekend. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

    Well, our team has done much better since we are able to use an on campus baseball stadium. That two year commute to Orange County for home games didn’t help baseball recruiting. The decision by Cohen to allow the displacement of the stadium tells you all you need to know about USC’s lack of commitment to baseball.

    Speaking of which, wolfman would you reconsider your plan to withhold publication of your Manifesto, er, i mean, tell-all book on your coverage of SC sports until the departure of Lil’ Lord Riley?? can’t wait to see the dirt only you could reveal held in tat Green Folder of yours! never before heard details of the Mr Reggie scandal, the time you rode in his tricked-out Impala and Biggie’s boys chased you through South central, the time you and Pete picked up some well-known starlets at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and the FBI raid of your office, among others.

    1. Why on earth would you need or want to see a tell-all book on the time Scott and Pete picked up Jane Fonda and Mia Farrow at the Beverly Hills Hotel ….when were there too —and picked up Angelina Jolie and an under aged Scarlett Johansson?

    1. I think most of the money raised went to buildings and professor salaries. He wanted to increase the academic prestige of the university by bringing in renowned, high salaried professors. He also greatly expanded Keck Medical school.

      Read a critique of the book. Max emphasized the need for free speech at the universities and noted that he invited both liberal and conservative speakers. He also claims that he was opposed to DEI policies in hiring and admissions. Don’t know if this is an attempt to distance himself from Folt and her destructive woke policies. The book is almost 500 pages. Can’t image people actually reading it.

    2. I liked the part in Max’ book where he defends the deans who drugged co-eds at Pasadena hotels …..”a lot of powerful men do these things”…..

      1. The Pasadena Hotel where the drug parties took place is only 6 blocks away from Vroman’s bookstore. Perhaps Max can organize a walking tour from the store to the hotel and reenact some of the scenes similar to what the Irish do in Dublin for the James Joyce novel Ulysses.

    Will Jen Taco Cohen commit to USC baseball or will she shrink by going to Taco Lita and hiding there? She is just another DEI hire with no real influence for the great sports program at USC.
