Morning Buzz: USC Can Only Take 16 Players And Do Package Deals

I keep questioning this idea USC has a hard-and-fast rule to take only 16 players in its next recruiting class, per Chad “Charmin” Bowden because he said the class lacks quality.

Case in point: The Trojans just received a commitment from three-star linebcker Dylan Wafle committed Monday. Obviously a package deal because he is the younger brother of five-star phenom Luke Wafle.

So that means USC is actually taking 15 players because the 16th is a three star. So much for saying thw class lacks quality and USC will be extra choosy. It makes no sense for Bowden to make 16 a non-negotiable number. If USC can land some top recruits after it finds 16 players, it will expand the class. No matter what Charmin says.

  1. KAM: 1990: “We just want to be left alone.”
2000: “We just want the same tax status as hetero couples.”
2010: “We just want you to endorse us with Pride Nights.”
2026: “Submit or we’ll destroy you!”

    Which was their motivation all along, that last one. No “live-and-let-live” from the D e m o c r a t s.

DON: Pride Night at USC is next.

    1. Just exactly what are they proud about. List the accomplishment. “Gee, I am so proud my son suffers from a sexual perversion that will ultimately destroy his body and soul.”

    2. They had a Pride Parade this past Sunday and a weekend long festival the weekend before that! Yet they claimed they’ve been so oppressed by the current administration and have lost their rights.

Other than men not being able to compete with women, which was never a right to begin with, I’m not sure how they’ve suffered.

I imagine that’s why they’re known as [drama] queens.

  2. Can’t say the Dylan Wafle is a wasted scholarship. He is athletic and has good size and speed and USC needs depth at the linebacker position. Boston College recruited him. He is a 3 star, not a zero star. Rhett Ellison and Clay Matthews Jr. were considered wasted scholarships at one time and both ultimately made great contributions to the team and Matthews turned out to be the NFL defensive player of the year.

  3. KAM: Irony: Universities since the 1960s have been the center for ‘the world is overpopulated! Don’t have kids!’

Now the number of universities far outnumber the available students and they’re slowly going out of business.

This is referred to as an ‘own goal.’

    DON: Good job there.

  4. Scotty has gone on and on about SC losing baseball players to the portal. Well Scotty, this is the new ” normal ” get used to it. SC should, but probably won’t, up the NIL for baseball.

The biggest loss for SC was the pitching coach leaving, hopefully the guy from Hawaii lives up to his cred.

Last thing, the baseball team was a shatshow since Gillespie was shown the door by cement head Garrett. Stanky had them three outs from the World Series in his fourth year, two of those years were spent traveling to Irvine to play home games.

From 2003 to 2024, SC made it to TWO regionals. I’d say things are looking up, now finish the damn stadium.
