USC Notes: I’m Not Buying This Transfer Explanation

Zacariah Branch said in this podcast with Amon-Ra St. Brown that he transferred because he couldn’t always access the USC weightroom. Branch mentions a lawsuit, presumably referring to the Stafon Johnson lawsuit that was filed after the accident in the weightroom in 2009.

I don’t buy this explanation. Branch clearly regressed in his sophomore season at USC and I think he transferred because he didn’t think he was developing under the current regime. So he went to Georgia and did look faster last season, which led to being drafted in the third round.

The weightroom policy was in effect when Branch was a freshman and it didn’t seem to bother me. So I don’t think it was the reason he left. Here’s the interview:
