Saturday Buzz: Will USC Play On Natural Grass In 2028?

With the World Cup in full swing, it’s a reminder that USC is probably going to have play the 2028 season somewhere besides the Coliseum, which will need to have a running track removed after hosting track events at the Coliseum.

SoFi Stadium is expected to be the favored site. Maybe USC should insist SoFi install a grass field like it currently has for the World Cup in 2028. I doubt USC will insist anything, it’s not its style, but it would be a good idea to play on natural grass.

    1. KAM: And playing at Michigan and at Oregon will not enhance SC’s chances of being elite that year.

DON: Leaving the Pac 12 was Folt’s Folly.

      1. 100%! No team USC plays in 2026, with the exception of that other sucker Los Angeles team that joined the Big Ten outta greed equal to ours, has a schedule in the top 25 Toughest schedules —- USC and UCLA play Top Ten Toughest Schedules.

Vanity Fair is reporting that Carol has the following recording playing at 200 decibels to warn small children to stay off the front lawn of her new 30 bedroom pink mansion on Sunset Boulevard: “I am raising wolves —- touch my grass and you’ll be eaten alive…eaten alive… ha hah hah ha HA HA HA!”

  1. She didn’t do anything differently than if it had been Dodgers vs Mets. Talking a little trash about the opponent.

I’m sure sports reporters in other countries are doing the same about us. I wouldn’t knock them for supporting their team and talking about how their team is going to hand it to us!

After the games, our fans will knock back a few with their fans and have a great time! It’s all in good fun.

Geez, the whole world has gotten as soft as liberals.

      1. That’s our world today, too.

Cashiers can’t give change for a $20 without the register calculating it for them. 90% of the population, (many with degrees), doesn’t know how to use reflexive pronouns correctly. It’s 3rd grade English!

  2. Scott, maybe USC will share the Rose Bowl with the Bruins. After all, they did share the coliseum for years so they have a history of sharing, and as we all know, USC has a rich history of playing games in the Rose Bowl. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

  3. Amusing remark by Scott Wolf on USC “…I doubt USC will insist anything, it’s not its style, but it would be a good idea to play on natural grass.”

Why just this past Winter, after the CFB committee announced to the ntl media it would hence forth do ‘the princess’ bidding awarding ‘Miss Haversham’ a seat at the grown up table if she finished at least 12th with her ‘card’ USC A.D. Jen Cohen et. al. announced ‘play us in September or good bye…’ USC bluntly noting the need ‘the princess’ has for ANY credible opponent past mid-October. Then, on cue. Petey ‘the green elf’ Bevacqua invoked his stooges in NYC to scream at a minimum, the injustice imposed let alone the temerity of USC for telling ‘the princess’ ‘get bent’.

From where all of us sit and read that certainly sounds like USC did in fact insist’ and just 2+ weeks ago ‘the princess’ is back hiding lest anyone see her begging for another chit.

I’ll take that for ‘insisting’ and mind you having all the rest of the CFB coaches and athletic directors solidly behind watching ‘the princess’ looking over her shoulder shooing the nasty little curs laughing at her plight and her look of despair.

WI head coach Luke Fickell is in need of a singular win as is Bill Bellichik (NC)….they have nothing to lose – nothing….

      1. Mike that would be justice for all – both them and us – settle it where it matters – winner takes all.
This is a daunting schedule this year ‘but’ winnable.

After Rutgers (game 4) USC plays 4 home 4 away and the all of them will be a challenge – all ‘but’ having these opponents is what makes a team jell as a ‘team’. That is where ‘the princess’ is facing a true challenge – 4 of their final 5 prepare them for nothing i.e. no challenge @ Navy, Miami, BC, SMU and @ SYR save for Miami on 7th Nov.. nothing – whereas USC has @ WI, OH St., @ IN, MD and @ UCLA.

      2. I was checking all those Season Preview publications for their ratings of position groups — Oregon is Top5 in all of them [QB’s, Offensive Line, Defensive Line, etc.]. We’re Top Ten in everything except Linebackers and Defensive Backs [where , unfortunately, we’re closer to the bottom than the top of the country].

Beating Oregon is gonna take a monumental coaching job.

      3. P. S.

Notre Dame looks weak in both the runners and receivers categories….but….very strong in both lines!

      4. KAM: Were those the publications that predicted we lose to Oregon, Indiana and Ohio State?

DON: We won’t make the playoffs with 3 or more losses.

  4. Hey –something I just noticed: USC doesn’t have ANY players, on offense or defense, listed as First Team in the Big Ten in ANY of the Preview publications—first time I can remember no Trojan being First Team in either the Pac 12 or the Big Ten.

  5. KAM: -So no SC players are predicted to be 1st team in the ‘Big-10

DON: Well what do they expect, the Trojans are 1/3 new guys, and untested-

    1. If the new receivers can just “catch the damn ball” —we’ll be fine. The O-Line and the running backs can carry the rest of the load.

      1. Wouldn’t “The Natural” be a better movie if Roy went on to buy up all of America’s cornfields and mass produce aluminum “Wonder Boy” bats with his income, exploiting the sweet little batboy as his pitchman?

  6. KAM: Your football team’s expectations often do not come true

DON: Yeah, I recall those great decade-long football runs, in order, by SC, Nebraska, Miami, SC again and Alabama. Today that is unattainable in the ‘Playoff Age– the Top-5 will win interchangeably

  7. Serious question? You do realize the Rams, who own Sofi, determine what turf to use, and they chose artificial turf. The turf also currently gets used practically every week with two NFL teams, and they aren’t going to play on a grass field that was played on by USC the day before.

  10. KAM: You can take a joke, but in Iran they put up a giant painting of you on the side of a building depicting you as the ‘Strait of Hormuz’ with your mouth stitched tightly at the Strait’s crossing

  12. KAM: Does SC think the Rose Bowl is a possible venue in 2028 for its ‘home games’ ?

DON: If so it’s only 2 years away, they’d better start coordinating with ucla’s schedule. But truth is SoFi probably will pay better
