USC Saturday Buzz: Will A Trojan Go In First Round Of MLB Draft? No

The MLB Draft is underway and through 27 picks, USC pitcher Mason Edwards has not been selected.

UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky was the No. 1 pick. Players from Huntington Beach and Corona high schools have also been drafted.

There are 40 picks in the first round, so still time for Edwards.

UPDATED: Edwards slipped to the second round, where he was taken by the A’s with the 47th pick.

    1. KAM: This Cowardly Gabby D e m o c r a t g a y cruise keeps getting turned away from Muslim countries, and the passengers are shocked and outraged their allies would do that..

DON:I’m sorry, but this is objectively hilarious.

  1. Congratulations to Blake Edwards for his selection in the mlb draft by the A’s. I will always root for any Trojan on any mlb teams, even those not called Dodgers. Also, congratulations to Andrew Johnson for being selected to be one of the 28 players on the U.S. National College team. We still don’t know the status of Govel for next year, but maybe Scott can find out for us. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

      2. KAM:” Shocker- Linsdsey Graham dies at age 71 from heart attack!

Graham died Saturday night “from a brief and sudden illness,” his office said in a statement.

“Senator Graham’s family appreciates prayers at this time and asks for privacy during this incredibly difficult period,” the statement continued.

Graham was chairman of the Senate Budget Committee and was seeking a fifth six-year Senate term in November. He was one of the most well-known members of the chamber and a key voice within the GOP party on defense and international affairs.

Emergency personnel responded to a call for “cardiac arrest” at Graham’s Capitol Hill home on Saturday night, according to police scanner audio obtained by NBC News.

Photographs reviewed by NBC News show that paramedics carried a person on a stretcher from Graham’s home to an awaiting ambulance. Police cars and fire trucks were also on site.

        DON: He was a character.

      3. Perhaps it would be better if staff didn’t put out releases like “died of sudden illness” when a lawmaker is scheduled to appear in one hour with “Meet The Press”……

        …this wasn’t an “illness’….

  3. KAM: So SC baseball’s Edwards, a fine pitcher, is brought back to earth by being only a 47th pick. That is a lot of teams passing you up

DON: –Must be hard to grade the college kids. In the pros there are few truly great pitchers so the chances of stardom are ‘few and none’

KAM: That, and their arms are fragile because the stress is unnatural

SO So Edwards needs to prove the experts wrong like Mike did.

DON: How do bruins put up with this? ucla is No. 1 all through the season but fails early in the Tournament, and it’s only the failure we recall
