USC Saturday Buzz: Camp Beckons . . . Soon

USC should start training camp in about a week. The weird part is that Lincoln Riley has still not announced what day it will begin, as if it is a secret.

Even at the Beach Blanket Bingo on Wednesday, USC officials would not divulge what day camp will begin.

  • USC has hired Sean Brosnan as its cross country and distance coach.

He spent the 2022 season at UCLA, where he was part of an NCAA investigation into possible recruiting violations.

UCLA and the NCAA came to an agreement on the case but Brosnan denied the allegations.

Brosnan’s attorney released a statement: “This statement is to confirm that the agreement announced today between the NCAA and UCLA was made without Mr. Brosnan’s involvement or consent. Mr. Brosnan has cooperated with the NCAA investigation, and we will vigorously defend any allegation that he committed NCAA violations.”

The NCAA stated that, “The agreed-upon violations occurred over several months and include impermissible communications, primarily with parents of student-athletes at other schools who were not in the NCAA Transfer Portal.”

UCLA’s penalties included one year of probation, a $5,000 fine and unspecified recruiting restrictions.

KAM; But they have lacked long distance runners. Maybe this ex-bruin will change that
