USC Pitcher Grant Govel Returns For Junior Season

USC pitcher Grant Govel has decided to return for his junior season after being drafted in the 16th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

I didn’t expect Govel to turn pro but if he had, USC would have been in a dire position. As it is, the Trojans have still suffered severe losses in the transfer portal and still might not be good next season.

With his return, at least USC knows it has its No. 1 pitcher and can count on him every Friday night during the season. Govel was 10-3 last season with a 2.87 ERA.

    1. Wolf’s glass is always half empty, no looking on the bright side for him, Scotty is our lovable cynic who can beat a dead horse better than anyone

      1. At least Scott can say he is located at the head of that horse….while Sybil is located [oh, must I say it]?…..

      2. KAM: Why would anyone be cynical after 2 decades of heartbreak, underachievement and disappointment with the football, baseball and men’s basketball programs?

DON: As long as the Nine Layer Dip at the tailgate party is good, how dare anyone criticize the hired help?

    2. KAM: Why would incompetent hired help like Scott?

DON: They like getting away with their lazy stupid incompetence destroying SC and doing less than the minimum.

    3. Thanks MG. You always hit the nail on the head. I see a new T-shirt slogan on the horizon. And, it’s still all about the coaching, and I have faith in Coach Andy despite the transfers, professional draft and graduations. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

  2. KAM: You gave it to that award-winning journalist you don’t like. I saw where you superimposed one head for another in mocking her. Classic

DON: Does that mean you appreciate it?

  4. DON: You got to wonder how the ‘Big-10 is embracing the Pac-12 newcomers ucla, SC, Washington and Oregon

KAM: Except for Oregon, the other 3 are loved by the Big-10 brotherhood because they often lose to those schools. But Oregon, they’re not sure what to make of the Ducks

DON: Remember how Pat stood up to the NCAA in 2011?

  5. I’m beyond ready for this young man’s return from injury. 4.4 speed, but remarkable deceleration/acceleration, which is perhaps why he was the third leading rusher in the country for yards after first contact. He is close to Reggie-like change of direction:

  6. DON: Impressive runner but those clippings were before he got hurt last year and was lost for the season

KAM: They talk about ‘losing a step but it’s also psychologically damaging
