USC Notes: The Big Day Arrived!

The new football building has its grand opening ceremony today. USC has closed the street in front of the building from 7 a.m.-9 p.m.

Fourteen hours? For what? So that no donors are inconvenienced when they get chaffeured in a golf cart to the ceremony?

Fortunately for the students, fall classes have not started yet. But summer classses are still in session.

  • USC and Wichita State will play a basketball game at South Lake Tahoe on Nov. 8 per Jon Rothstein. So, Eric Musselman isn’t going to upgrade the schedule, apparently.
  • Season-ticket holders got this loud-and-clear message this week. Your tickets have arrived! Now get ready for San Jose State!

  1. wolfman, I just want to take this opportunity to say us Bruins are very jealous we don’t have a vigilant steward such as yourself to call out UCLA when they commit any missteps. Of course we don’t have the headline shattering scandals SC routinely gets mired in, but having a watchful sentinel such as yourself would be a huge comfort!!

    1. Chuckster,

Just a few hickups by the infamous ruins: Johnny Cheetin’ Wooden, Angela Davis and the Black Panthers, Darryl Henly, Foster with Handicap parking, the vagaina dr., shutting down 405 fwy with students in 1966, the protest just a coule of summers ago regarding palenstine, riots in the 60’s and 70’s, and other items.

      1. Reads like a grocery list compared to the heinous SC scandals which I will mercifully not list here. And don’t you dare impugn the good name of my professor Ms. Davis.

    2. Pasadena, don’t forget about Rodney Alcala. We will never know for sure, but law enforcement puts the likely number of his victims in the 100-200 range.

      1. A mere stutter-step in between a glorious list of heroes and idols. Man, you trOJies always focus on the negative, while us bruins seek to provide sweetness and light.

  3. Really Scott, now you have an issue with traffic control on the USC campus. And, I do recall that Wichita State usually has a very competitive basketball team. Start providing actual USC sports news instead of searching for negatives. We know that you can do it if you try. And, thanks to Pasadena for the clarification of the proposed Texas Tech dates. I remember fondly the Cotton Bowl game with the flying tortillas, but we don’t need Texas Tech on the schedule to make the playoffs. Preseason games are warm ups for the Big Ten season. I like playing the California State schools, and Bose State possibly, who are now in the Pac 12. Isn’t the Pac 12 an FBS conference? Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

      1. Good morning MG and others. MG, I have seen the journalism that Scott can do when he sets his mind to it, and it is much better than negative barbs. As USC fans, we are rah rah for our Trojans, and we want what is best for them and us as fans. You can be critical without being snarky. A journalist should state facts that can create opinions. Scott, has the unique ability to share historical facts about USC that I really appreciate. That to me is his strength. And, that is what I will continue to encourage him to do to both entertain and inform us. Thanks for all that you, Trojan1967, Pasadena and others also do for us. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

    1. yes, it’s actually an inconvenience to students (and staff) to close the road for 14 hours, especially when many park in a structure off that street. i’m thinking of them. i know that is something you can’t fathom as Dan the Company Man
