USC’s starting center, Killian O’Connor, suffered a non-contact injury in practice that will cause him to miss the season, Lincoln Riley announced.
Who knows what the non-contact injury was? O’Connor was expected to be a team captain this season.
So who starts at center now? The coaches will probably try a few candidates, like offensive guard Tobias Raymond, who took reps at center in spring practice. Maybe sophomore Kaylon Miller. Stay tuned.
KAM: Disaster. We are cornholed.
DON: Fight On, Killian!

KAM: No depth.
DON: This was the one are we had to go injury free to have a chance this season. On the depth chart have freshmen backing up Killian .

Sunnova! Center the 2nd most important position on OL. But better to have someone go down now so you can prep the backup. These dudes are already at a disadvantage due to extensive weight loss!!

Injuries are always the big unknown every season. I feel so sorry for O’Connor; he has come a long way to develop as a first stringer. Hopefully, the new five year eligibility period will allow him to play another year. Thanks for the update about his possible replacements. Thankfully, we have much better OL depth this year thanks to some great recruiting. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

I think we need to look at this honestly —huge loss for USC….Riley really is snake-bitten…. the Caleb injury was one thing…but, crap, this happens every year… it’s like a curse …. #Lincoln:YouNeedToChangeSomethingYou’reDoingInPrivate

“We are here to win championships. If you don’t want to win championships, go to Indiana.”

Enough? It should have never happened.
But our country has a serious mental health problem. She proves that daily.

DON: If the McKay Center is considered less than par only 10 years later, why was it built so insufficiently?
KAM: It was Wiley who insisted on having a replacement for McKay, the new state-of-the-art ‘Football Building’. They claim the quality of these training centers is a consideration for recruits
DON: Wiley might one day not leave much of an SC football legacy behind him, but he made the ‘Football Building’ happen

DON: I read that SC still owes $25-million for the Football Building. I bet they find the money somewhere
KAM: Just look at the numbers on the tv contracts, through the roof. And now the tv-gods want the Playoffs expanded from 12 to 18 or even 24. Those tv-lifers know it is all about the Playoffs and the money to be had

DON: SC just lost its center, one of the cornerstones of the offensive line along with left tackle
KAM: They asked one of their linemen to move over to center, a position apparently he has never played
