USC Morning Buzz: Another Tradition Under Risk

The new football building is open for business and the official grand opening was yesterday.

It’s wild how some of the fanboy media are acting like they are part of the team when describing the sparking facility. Does it benefit the media? Do they play in the games?

One concern from yesterday. The Heisman Trophies of past USC winners are on display in the new building after being in the Heritage Hall lobby for more than 40 years.

Why does it matter? Because if the new building is not open to the public, USC fans will no longer be able to see the Heismans.

Now maybe the new building will allow public access but consider the McKay Center, where football previously resided, has been off limits to the public since 2012. And I cannot imagine Lincoln Riley wants any part of allowing fans into his inner sanctum.

Hopefully, I’m wrong. Otherwise, the fans will no longer be able to see the Heisman Trophies. Some people hate it when I stick up for the fans, whether it’s ticket prices, continuing the Notre Dame rivalry or being able to view the Heismans.

But the fans are really the backbone of USC football so they should be considered.

    1. What’s the point of having endless trophies to display and sticking them in a linen closet ? Wolf has shown pics of this, why have Heritage Hall at all ?????? What have a USC Athletic Hall of Fame if you’re not going to induct anyone anymore ? Why make tailgating on campus a complete red tape mess ? Why allow the BIG 10 to make you play insane Friday night games and not push back ?

  1. DON: I have been in football stadiums that are near empty, and it takes away from the excitement of the game. It’s like they’re just playing catch out there

KAM: So I guess in that way you can say, along with the players, a crowd is what makes the game exciting

    1. A lot of times over the last two years it really seems like the players endorse the “just playing catch out there” approach themselves….

      1. Thank you for the thoughtful reminder. I’ll be sure to consider it immediately after you demonstrate the impressive self-awareness required to follow your own advice.

Until then, please continue providing unsolicited commentary on why other people shouldn’t be here.

The irony is doing most of the work for me.

  2. watch out, wolfman, the Dummues freaked out when you expressed concern for students facing road closures, what temerity for you to be concerned about their ability to view the few untainted Heismans!!

they banned me from HH but I hear they have a “Notorious Section” where they keep OJ’s, Mr Reggie’s and Charlie White’s Heismans!!
