USC Morning Buzz: The Offensive Plugs A Gap, Which Opens Another One

I hear one of USC’s prized freshmen men’s basketball players recently suffered an injury and could be sidelined 6-8 weeks.

This follows foot surgery for center Eric Reibe. What is the deal with basketball injuries?

  • I’m hearing Tobias Raymond is the clear No. 1 center during USC practices since the injury to Kilian O’Connor. Not exactly a surprise but also a clear sign that there are not many options at the moment for the starting spot.

Less clear is who starts at left guard, where a host of candidates exist, including Kaylon Miller, Hayden Treter, Breck Kolojay and even some tackles who could move inside.

  • USC has offered QB Trey Wright of Frisco, Texas, the first QB it offered from the Class of 2028. The interesting part is Wright is a three-star prospect and 5-feet-11. He has been offered by Oregon, UCLA and Michigan.

    Article states that he goes into the office before 7 am, he has spent hours studying OSU and Indiana’s defenses, and that he is totally fired up to be given a D to mold.

    He even hit an offensive player in illustrating a defensive drill in which he drove the guy backwards.

Proof is on the field, this kind of stuff happens at every fall practice, hope spring eternal, then you have to play, and SC isn’t going to find out how good or bad they are until Nike come to LA, any struggles against the first 4 teams is not goin to be good, do expect Fresno State to give SC al they can handle, wouldn’t be surprised if they won, they have a good head coach.

    They do play Boise, Okie St and Portland St this year, no idea if Boise will be any good, OSU has been awful the past couple of years and PSU.
