Jayden Daniels is giving Reggie Bush a run for his money for the title of Biggest Alumni Ingrate.
Daniels had his attorney send LSU a letter that it can no longer use his name, image and likeness and he felt disrespected because LSU let another player wear his No. 5.
LSU promised cornerback DJ Pickett he could wear No. 5 (before Lane Kiffin got hired). Kiffin said he felt obligated to honor the commitment.
Daniels is miffed that — as a Heisman Trophy winner — he was not asked beforehand for permission to let someone else wear the jersey. Daniels has a right to be upset about it but he has taken it too far by making threats and getting lawyers.
What guys like him and Reggie Bush fail to realize is they tarnish their legacies, which is an something every player should protect. Daniels has ruined his reputation with most LSU fans. Likewise, Bush still had a lot of USC fans who defended him before he decided to file a lawsuit against USC.
Now a lot of these guys make so much money they don’t care about anything. But Daniels will regret it one day.
“Obviously there are issues to be worked out between my team and LSU and my hope is that it will get done privately,” Daniels said in a statement today.
Privately? Then why did he get his lawyer involved?

That’s what I felt Mike – the talent is there and the coaching is focused. Problem is all have to be patient until 26th September (OR) the preceding 4 are a distraction with hopefully 2nd and 3rd stringers getting lots of reps to be ready for the last 8 games.
This looks so promising – haven’t felt this since 2008

Daniels is crying about LSU “disrespecting” him, but come on. Not every disagreement, criticism, or decision you don’t like is disrespect. Sometimes you’re just not getting your way.
Sounds like the wounded-pride syndrome

Well, at least the first reports are somewhat favorable. Hurricane conditions for Hawaii while Maui will not see a hurricane but rather a tropical storm.
Flooding looks imminent with Hawaii forecasted to receive 25 inches and Maui maybe 12-15 inches.
25 inches? That is more rain than L.A. gets in 2-years

The thing that is bothersome: the tile on the roofs in our development [which is otherwise the safest and best built on Maui] is gonna be flying around at 70 miles an hour…..

Just stay safe in your safe room. Why do builders use tile roofs in a hurricane prone area. Just like developers and builders were forced to stop using wood shingle tiles for roofs especially in wild fire areas. When we lived in Florida there were a lot of metal fabricated roofs because of the hurricanes in order to avoid flying shingles. But, property can be rebuilt, people can’t. Stay safe, and we look forward to your comments. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

First things first. MG, stay safe and weather the storm. The holy card was a good touch.
As to the topic outlined by Scott. We are in the golden age of capitalism for some amongst us. What happens to anyone who infringes on a Disney character oopyright even if it is for a nonprofit cause. Disney lawyers protect their property rights diligently. That is why I am confused about the use by Oregon of the Donald Duck look alike. NIL has become a property right for athletes, the problem for Daniels is that he has no property right for the team’s jersey numbers, he does not own that number. USC and other schools who retire those numbers do regularly ask the prior user about it as a genture of good will. Life can be complicated where money and image are concerned. And, controversy does seen to always follow Kiffin. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

Yeah, first “prep” for the hurricane was finding that Holy Card.
I’m thinking this might be the time for Scott to play mediator and invite Kiff and Daniels to a “beer summit” on his front lawn like the ones Obama used to throw for warring parties [and Kiff can drink near beer just like Barack—cuz ONE can of 5% alcohol beer sure can get a fella higher than a kite]…..
