Someone Actually Likes USC’s Chances To Win National Title

If you wanted to find a college football pundit who thinks USC can win the national title, it would figure to come from Fox Sports. The only surprise is it is not Joel Klatt.

Instead, it is analyst RJ Young, who says USC has the best offensive and defensive coordinators in the country. He’s referring to Lincoln Riley, of course.

  1. On paper, I can see it. Highly ranked O-line and D-line. Reloaded with tremendous WRs. Much improved running game. Team speed better than last year. Maiava considered as one of the best QBs in the country.

      2. Our center and guards were not highly ranked coming out of high school —-I’m hoping they’ll mature enough to handle the outstanding defensive lines of Oregon, Indiana and Ohio State.

  4. Young has done his job….he didn’t:

    1. Echo the usual nonsense based on last year’s bowls.
    2. he didn’t have his nephew or an unpaid intern churn up a list.
    3. he didn’t get liquored up and frantically copied what Kirk Herbstreit came up with to meet a video deadline.
    4. he didn’t go the usual ‘safe’ route and make sure he had ‘the princess’ in the championship round.

    Instead he actually decided to do some deep digging…the other looming change is the resurrection of Ucla under Chesney…might be a very climatic game to end the year and leave Miss Havasham trying to draw eyes with SYR…

  8. KAM: I note SC is writing off the Rutgers game as an automatic win. But the Trojans must travel through 3 time zones and will lack sleep.

    DON: Plus the Trojans will find out that East Coast guys have a certain confidence about themselves

  13. I would rather have commentators have reasons for USC to be number one, than have them say that we are not good enough to be in the playoffs. Like all football commentators including Scott, they have their opinion. As MG always says, the proof will be on the field expecially the Oregon game where we will see which pundit is correct. While all of us ordinary rah rah USC fans just hope for the best and are saddened by the worst. Fight on while hope springs eternal, Dan, Class of 1962
