Notes: Some Changes For This USC Season

You know what I like most about the new football building?

The elimination of the fanboy media filming the players walking up the ramp from the McKay Center to Howard Jones Field. It was ridiculous having multiple people with their camera phones showing a player walk up a ramp and cross the street to practice.

Thankfully, it’s not happening anymore.

  • USC has hired Hayley Elwood to be the in-stadium host for home games this season. She spent three seasons as in-arena host for the Lakers and has also worked at KTLA-TV.
  • USC put out a long statement today about improvements for home games after surveying the fans. But none of the changes seem like things most fans will notice.

And maybe frustratingly, USC says the survey said fans listed the band as a unique tradition they enjoy. But then it mentions nothing about reducing the role of the DJ.

Surely they realize fans want more band and less DJ?

  1. USC Fans want a top winning team–when we win that’s an enjoyable experience at the Coliseum …

We need to see more of the Trojan horse— watching that horse run around the Coliseum track was a great experience. I do realize the track is gone down, but there is still room to build a narrow track for the horse so once again we can see Traveler in full stride once again.

Throw the DJ away- not needed half some free halftime and postgame concerts like the Beach Boys, U2. , Bon Jovi The Beach Boys performed one year after a USC game which was great.

Lower the parking, and concession food..prices…..it’s not like your car and your stomach are safe when you visit the Coliseum.

    JUST WIN BABY!!!

      1. Ah remember some 11+ years ago way back when Petros Papadakis was the ‘in house’ emcee/announcer at Galen before his daily tantrums on 570 AM his PMS show, mocking everything at USC got him a well-deserved sacking?

      2. Whether he’s a bad boy announcer or not…..I will always remember those great Petros 2 yard suicide runs straight up the middle for T. D.’s….

      3. KAM: Rah Rahs fear the truth.

DON: They always blame the whistleblower and defend the lazy stupid incompetent visionless hired help. That’s how you end up with idiotic decisions like having a non-USC alum DJ paying ear blasting rap music at football games that overshadow our world famous USC Trojan Marching Band.

    1. Who needs e.e. cummings when you have Ed. G…

BTW, the temperature on the field on Saturday will be close to 100. What brainiac thought that a 12:30 pm kickoff was a good idea?

  3. DON: There is a problem of fans photographing SC football players walking to practice? That is the only time you can see a player not in a group

KAM: And some Trojans just want a remembrance of a player

  4. KAM: Music sets the mood. If I am at a football game I don’t want to be forced to hear any music except from the SC band

DON: Yeah, that clip of the SC band playing got me wanting to hear more
