USC-Louisiana Live Blog

Some of the USC defensive backs and linebackers are having real trouble covering people.

USC with three personal foul penalties tonight.

Trent Mosley’s 86-yard punt return should put the game away.

Maiava should have two interceptions after that pass went right off cornerback’s hands.

A USC fan tells me they went to buy a beer sword at the Coliseum but after waiting 30 minutes, was told the price went from $30 to $60 and there was no guarantee they wouldn’t be sold out before they reached front of line

Wow, the USC defense was awful on that TD drive. Cannot cover the tight end, as usual.

Another TD pass to Mark Bowman, who is shaken up on the hit but appears to be OK.

The crowd is the biggest of the season, for what that is worth.

USC gives up a field goal but comes back with a TD pass to Mark Bowman.

Jayden Maiava starts off with an interception. Oops.

You’ll be shocked to learn Jahkeem Stewart is not playing tonight.

Some people saying Oregon overrated are same ones who said USC could not possibly play Notre Dame during the big, bad Big Ten schedule.

  1. Good choice to use “some” in that statement Woofster! There are many of us who think that Oregon is overrated and that USC could and should be playing Notre Dame (implicit in that being that the Big 10 schedule is an excuse) … and that Charles Nelson/Not So Wiley is horrid …

    1. Well … Sark gets a big one with a big comeback … I stand corrected (didn’t see that happening) … so next week is it Kiff’s turn to finally reel in a big one (and in what is surely going to be a rather unfriendly environment)?

  3. KAM: Disappointed USC Fans Brawl in Stands During Trojans Lackluster’ 49-30 Win Over Lowly Louisiana.https://x.com/FrontlineNewsGp/status/2099005061431255420lol

During Saturday night’s game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, fights erupted between disgruntled USC fans upset they weren’t covering the 30.5 point spread against third rate opposition, including one wearing QB Jayden Maiava’s No. 14.

DON: Video showed the scuffle escalating with others joining in, drawing jokes online like ‘a beautiful night for an altercation’ and notes on USC’s ‘Fight On’ cry taking a literal turn. While the team improved to 3-0 before an announced crowd of 60,019 fans, reactions mixed humor with concerns over alcohol and the ridiculously easy early schedule.

    1. Lunchmeat or whoever launched his Heisman campaign against a befuddled SC second team defense. They looked like they were running in mud. 🤷‍♂️

  4. DON: SC took care of business as expected, but the day belonged to Texas and its 4th quarter comeback down by 20-points to Ohio St

KAM: Get beat up for 3 quarters, but then in the 4th quarter State’s defense tires and running plays are working against it

  5. KAM: You know I love the underdog and at 23-3 Ohio St there was no doubt it was Texas. That way I found the game thrilling

DON: I didn’t have a horse in the race, so either team winning was fine with me

  6. DON: This SC Mosley kid looks like a keeper. The high school publicity he got was legit

KAM: There are few things more exciting than a zig-zagging punt return, and hopefully we haven’t seen the last of his

  7. DON: Too bad for Oregon but I never had much use for Ducks anyway. Maybe this loss to Oklahoma St was a one-off and only means they ran into a hot team showing off for the Oklahoma locals

KAM: I bet those 5 1/2 points favoring Oregon over SC will be tumbling down

  8. KAM: It’s so early in the season and we already have 2 for-the-memory games, the One Second Game and now the Texas 4th Quarter Game

DON: The Oregon loss didn’t make the list

  9. KAM: “Go East, Young Man” never became a popular phrase, but that is exactly what SC will be doing this week as they are New Jersey Rutgers-bound

DON: This Rutgers team is good for 3 touchdowns but the problem is that they give up 4 or 5 per game

  10. DON: The problem for Ohio St and Oregon getting 1-loss this early in the season is that they don’t want to get a 2nd-loss because 3 losses and you’re out

KAM: I am sure they don’t want SC pinning a 2nd loss on them

  11. KAM: Another feature I like about this freshman class is that when players like Bowman and Mosley score touchdowns they act as if they have been there before

    DON: I’m sure they have.
