Look Who’s Playing Notre Dame In October

Notre Dame and Nebraska have agreed to a home-and-home series that will feature games at Lincoln on October 30, 2032 and South Bend on October 29, 2033.

Now wait a minute. Lincoln Riley, USC and the fanboys have been preaching incessantly that it is impossible for a Big Ten team to play Notre Dame in the midst of an arduous conference schedule. It’s not fair. It ruins your season. The excuses were endless.

But Nebraska thinks it is possible. They are not afraid. Someone will invariably say, “Nebraska is not USC. They have nothing to lose.”

How do you know how good Nebraska will be in 2032? At least they are ambitious. Is USC?

    1. Scott took the words right outta my mouth: “Nebraska has nothing to lose” —they’ll never be in playoff contention again… cuz …not enough $$$$$…..

  1. Can only add to that – an extra week each year for No’Riley to steal oxygen while claiming that the program is right on the verge (while not admitting that it is right on the verge … of the proverbial cliff).

    1. Does it often seem to you that Riley is snake bit? The Caleb thing in the Championship game sometimes seems like an omen of things to come —we lost our tailbacks for Notre Dame—we lost our center before we even played a game. Injuries are part of the game —but this is like Sark losing Manning before Ohio State.

      1. MG – A snake who is snakebit, eh? Interesting. Personally, just think it mostly comes from running a soft program. Not like the Chargers (that is a football enterprise whose injury snakebite syndrome is long-standing and mystical in dimension … all the way back to the original days with Sid Gilman).

  2. DON:: In the old days aka the ‘Pre-NIL Years’ you would feel a sports closeness to some of the 3-4 year Trojans. The players today are so interchangeable and transactional, many stay but 1-year and then move on

KAM: But the sports fans still love their ol’ University U, So apparently there is no difference in most people’s attitudes Pre-NIL and Post-NIL. In other words, “It doesn’t matter, just give me my football’

    1. Neither of those pics posted.

One was Jerry saying, (BFD) “It’s an exclamation point.”

The other was Mr. Lippman telling Elaine to remove the exclamation points from her edits of Jake Jarmel’s book.

  4. KAM: I am not writing off the Rutgers game, not that I fear SC will lose, but this team has under-performed and they are due to play a better game.

DON: You could say the same for SC

  6. LET’S SEE IF I CAN GET THE THOUGHT IN THIS WAY– THIS IS WEST COAST FOOTBALL AGAINST EAST COAST FOOTBALL. AND YOU KNOW HOW NEW YORKERS THINK THAT ANYTHING WEST OF NEW YORK IS CAMPING OUT

  7. KAM: Still, the thought in the back of my mind is ‘Oregon. With the defeat of the Ducks it shows it can be done.

DON: But Oregon is like 8-2 against SC, so the Ducks’ attitude is one of “It’s just SC”

    1. SC didn’t give Oregon the crown of west coast football. Oregon took it during the Clay years. SC has started to take back recruiting blue chippers in the Southland, but you are one million percent correct about the significance of this game. It’s the whole season. SC has to get back to beating the Quack Quacks on the field in order to truly take back the crown. No one expects them to beat Ohio State at this point it would be delicious gravy but Oregon is what matters.

  8. KAM: Beating Ohio St or Indiana would be great, but it’s that Oregon game that is of utmost importance.

DON: There is Washington of course, but who is ‘Best in the West’ is between Oregon and SC

  9. Scooter,

The only consideration that i have is, Nebraska is 597 miles away from nd and LAX is 2,116 miles away from nd. nebraska will have an easier time.

But I remember the old coaches for SC used to say, anytime and anywhere. Now you got the pencil neck geek hiding his head in the sand. What a disgrace to the history of SC. Fire his ass.

    1. I agree with the point you made on the mileage differential, old pal. It matters.

As far as Lincoln….maybe it’s my imagination but his neck looks a little stronger this year….and he was wearing a military jacket instead of a black turtleneck on the sidelines last Saturday…

  11. Scott, you are correct when you state that Nebraska is no USC. Nebraska has not been relevant as a national championship team for many, many years. If playing ND brings them some relevance, then god bless them. USC is going to play ND again but on our terms not theirs. We will play them as the first or second game of the season as part of our pre conference schedule. It is a win win for our Trojans, we play ND but on our terms. You should be happy about that as a Trojan alum. Your whining about the ND game is very unbecoming for a good Trojan alum. You should be more concerned that Mosley is injured and Maiava may have a sore shoulder. I agree that the return of Stewart will give us a stalwart D-line. Let’s take one game at a time and just beat Rutgers convincingly; then, the game of the year against Oregon. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

    1. We will need lots of sacks in the Oregon game —I don’t like the idea of the best receivers in the Big Ten going against the worst defensive backs [USC’s]. Better if the ball doesn’t get outta the QB’s hands, yes?

btw, I remember Leinart getting slammed to the ground numerous times…and bouncing back. It’s odd that one tackle is throwing Jayden off his game that much.
