A busy and bustling Thursday night in Times Square with no sign of USC (or Rutgers) fans.
Have no fear, that changes today when USC stages a rally in Times Square. But how many fans will be there?
The first two times I went to New York with USC, it played Penn State. Imagine that.
The last time USC played in the Big Apple was for a game vs. Syracuse, which was marketing itself as “New York’s team.”
Now, it’s Rutgers. Sigh. The Scarlet Knights are 0-2 vs. the state of Massachusetts (Umass, Boston College).
In lieu of Tommy Trojan, there is always Prometheus at Rockefeller Center.
- Defensive tackle Jahkeem Stewart is now listed as out for the Rutgets game. How many times did Lincoln Riley say Stewart was close to returning? He said before the first game of the season Stewart might be available for Game 2,
Stewart has now missed nearly half the season with no coherent explanation of why his foot injury has not recovered sufficiently. This is the same foot injury that bothered him last season and required offseason surgery.
- Former USC assistant coach coach Johnny Nansen was charged with a misdemeanor DWI this week. He is an assistant coach at Texas and has worked with Steve Sarkisian at multiple schools.
- Kansas and Arizona State play each other at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday. Arizona State wanted both teams to wear their home uniforms for the special game. Kansas said no. So Arizona State will wear white.
This used to be the type of game USC would be up for playing but obviously the football program has become much less ambitious lately.

KAM: UCLA had a running back named Theotis Brown.
His nickname was “Big Foot”.
DON: Former UCLA and NFL running back Theotis “Bigfoot” Brown wears a size 15 shoe.
He earned his famous nickname during his standout 1974 undefeated season at Skyline High School in Oakland, where he dominated as a 6-foot-2, 225-pound powerhouse with exceptionally large feet. He ran for 2900 yards at UCLA alongside Wendell Tyler and James Owens from 1976-78 in the Veer Offense.

The injury subterfuge has become ridiculous. Thanos was wearing an ortho boot up to two weeks ago, but was listed as “possible”. That is nuts. Save him for Oregon or after that, but stop pretending that he is “day-to-day”. And there is no news about Tanook Hines, who wore out the quacks last year, he didn’t play last week.
