USC president Beong-Soo Kim had his Investiture ceremony yesterday on campus.
Kim did an interview with the L.A. Times and was asked by a reporter if USC could afford to pay a buyout for Lincoln Riley, which could be up to $70 million.
“We’re not thinking about that,” Kim said. “We are laser focused on the next game, and then the game after that.”
It’s not a surprising answer. What else would he say, right? But at least he got asked.
A few weeks ago, Kim met with some student media on campus and they didn’t even ask a single question about Lincoln Riley.
Someone needs to ask Jen Cohen the same question. She avoids interviews like the plague.
An LA Times reporter who is too stupid to realize we don’t merely write Lincoln a check for his buyout amount.
I’m shocked, I tell ya! Shocked!

the World Champion LA Times (as Healy called it) is our last great paper standing in LA. Dummies don’t like the Times cause they don’t hire dumbbell reporters. but hey, there’s always Faux News for those who lack curiosity.

Will Indiana recover from blowing TD and field goal? They just lost a fumble at goal line…. a possible 14 points squandered…..

Hopefully, Indiana and Florida can knock off their opponents.
We don’t root for the Gators often, but today is one of those days. An unranked team beating a Top 10 team is one of the things that make fall Saturdays so much fun!

Yep, we want everyone ranked ahead of us to lose [I actually want Ohio State to win, though….. so their game with USC will be even HUGER]….

Unfortunately, Ohio State MAY be more dangerous without him….their backup is a genuine dual threat…and he’s also a first class leader…

Scott, you must know enough about human relations to know that no supervisor is going to discuss what might be happening with an employee. Why would you even expect the university president or the athletic director to tell you whether or not they are considering a buyout for LR. Also, why would they sow doubt in his leadership with five games to go and a current 6-1 record. How about concentrating on the coming game with Wisconsin and analyze one game at a time until the end of the season. What if USC wins all five remaining games and gets into the playoffs? The question regarding LR might be different than if his team loses four out of five or all of them. Let the season play out, then judge; isn’t that what the president and AD will have to do. Watch the UCLA vs. Wisconsin game today and let us know your thoughts. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

He commented on an LA Times article about the subject. Nothing wrong with that.
And yes, he said Kim’s response was no surprise. It’s all a President would say at this point. Scott did NOT “expect the university president or the athletic director to tell you whether or not they are considering a buyout for LR.”

I like our prez’ answer…. but that’s not the Big News —the Big News is that we may now be facing a very smart, very special leader when we see Ohio State: Luke Fayey [sp?]…. I always admired his interviews —he’s really savvy and focused [phuck it all]….

B-b-b-buh-buh-but … we’re SEC … and we lost to SEC … and the SEC is tough … so the SEC should get all of the playoff slots, even if the field is expanded to 24 … [SEC “logic” developed at the end of the Pete Carrol era that will never go out of fashion in Dixie]

You know a few of us are cool with U(but are blind)LA! But have to kick wherever there is an opening … did you enjoy the game leading recounting the 1994 and 1999 Rose Bowls? Especially loved watching the highlights of Ron Dayne running roughshod! At any rate, hope y’all win … you know, USC-UCLA matchups where the teams have a combined 1 loss entering the game … always work well for the team with (OJ … Ricky Bell … Rodney Peate … Reggie Bush) … so you keep that undefeated thing going (since we already took the 1 L allocated for such an event … of course, there are likely at least a couple more on the way)!
