USC Morning Buzz: Now Here’s A Coach Who Takes Responsibility

Now this is a coach who take responsibility for his sideline and doesn’t just hold a play sheet like Charles Nelson Riley.

I’d love to see Jason Eck destroy a juice box.

  • UCLA QB Ty Dieffenbach after the Wisconsin game:

“Growing up here, you want to go play for UCLA. You don’t want to play for USC, where I’m from.”

Dieffenbach went to Agoura High School. You know who else went there? Former USC linebacker Clay Matthews. And former USC offensive lineman Kevin Graf.

So I’m not sure everyone from Agoura wants to go to UCLA.

  • The official attendance at the UCLA-Wisconsin game was 36,045. This has caused consternation among some fans who thought the crowd looked bigger. It was also a disappointing number because Wisconsin brought a good crowd and because UCLA students are back in school.

  1. Well with Chesney at UCLA (headed to playoffs in year one) and Riley at SC, can’t blame kids for wanting to go to UCLA.

Besides WRs why go to SC? NIL money, I guess. If UCLA commits to NIL then watch out.

It hurts to realize UCLA will probably lock down socal recruiting like Pete did.

Meanwhile, Riley runs all over the country, ignoring his backyard, because he wants to maintain his national recruiting network for his next job.

I am dreading an era where UCLA owns LA college football. The consolation is that Chesney will likely be hired away fairly quickly.

  2. Both Wisconsin and UCLA are winnable teams for USC if they play disciplined. The stupid penalties like holding receivers and running into the QB destroy any momentum that USC may be getting, especially the third and long penalties that keep drives alive for inferior opponents. If UCLA keeps winning, they will get their share of good local high school players, but so will USC. It will all be about the coaching and right now Chesney is more charismatic than LR. Let’s see how the rest of the season plays out and who wins the actual showdown game. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962
