USC Morning Buzz: Mr. No-Compete Is Thrilled With New System

Mr. No Compete, aka Lincoln Riley, offered a full-throated endorsement for a 24-team College Football Playoff on Monday night during the Trojans Live radio show.

What a surprise. The guy who is 5-15 vs. ranked teams while at USC wants the system where 16 percent of the teams make the playoffs.

“I do think it’s going to be a really good thing for the sport,” Riley said. “I’ve yet to see a sport where you create more competition, give more teams access to the playoffs, you have more meaningful games and then somehow that doesn’t turn out to be better for the sport.”

Which games are more meaningful with a 24-game playoff? Certainly not his games vs. teams like San Jose State, Fresno State and Louisiana. Next year, he’ll also be able to lose multiple Big Ten games.

He also nuked the Notre Dame series for four years even though many predicted playoff expansion was coming.

Given how Riley celebrated that victory over 3-4 Penn State, how would he celebrate making the 24-team playoff?
