Well, the wireless situation was diabolical at the Coliseum on Saturday, which severely limited my posts/tweets.
I will have a detailed analysis of the game Sunday.
In the meantime, Lincoln Riley pulled another weird move in his post-game press conference, when he read a statement off a piece of paper.
“This program’s not built on internal joy. Um, is, excuse me, built on internal joy, not external applause. This win is for all the staff members, the players, the leaders, admin, all the people within the walls.
I said before this game that I’m the right person for this job, and as long as all those people know that, that’s all I care about. I appreciate being part of this university, and all it does, I appreciate our kids and our staff, and I’m gonna continue to fight on, ’cause that’s what the being a Trojan is all about. Adios.”
Adios?
A written statement? Really?
I don’t think people fully realize how defensive and insecure the USC coach is. He got asked a question or two earlier in the week about his future and he could not handle it. How dare anyone question his ability or performance?
This is not something you really see from other coaches.

How Riley got so lucky to be offered so much and have a supportive wife, we’ll never truly know. He’s a twig for repeatedly reading written, stiff statements.

I haven’t the slightest problem with Coach Riley’s statement. I want a coach who tells critics to go to hell. It is totally okay for us to sharpshoot coach when things look bad on the field….and it’s just as okay for coach to tell us he knows more than we do about the potential of his program .
