Todd Blackledge does a pro-USC podcast with Yogi Roth. Here is what Blackledge said about Lincoln Riley.
“I think he’s done a really good job building there at USC. I hope he doesn’t get fired.”
Has Riley done a good job building? We are in Year 5. Five years to build? At USC?
Roth added: “I feel like the country is always on this USC thing. Whenever they fail, jump on it.”
Is this true? I don’t think the nation really talks about USC like it would have during the Carroll Era or the 1970’s.
USC remains an obsession of the pundits (Cowherd, Klatt, Pate, Roth) but I think across the nation it is the teams in the South and Midwest that dominate the conversation and USC is a sidelight.
I am sure football interest is parochial. For example, I bet in Iowa they are celebrating the shut out of Wisconsin and could care less about what is happening at SC

Of course most everybody loves scandals, so the trouble with the SC gynecologist and the camp uprisings were of national interest

Scooter,
You watch the winchell and mahony show when Riley talks. My question is, who is Paul Winchell in the SC scheme of things.

It’s all about winning, but the tradition and spirit of Troy makes USC a national iconic institution. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

Except when typing ‘USC’ it often refers to the University of South Carolina

it’s a problem following charismatic Sneaky Pete, despite the fact he fled town one step ahead of the law. reminds me a bit of the plight of poor Gene Bartow who followed the great John Wooden. he went something like 52-8 over two seasons, incl two Pac 8 titles, a final four and a sweet 16, and still got run outta town for not winning enough. Sark and Kiff do seem to have grown up quite a bit from their youthful days of boozing and scrapping with the wolfman.
