If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column

Five-star cornerback Elbert Hill of Akron, Ohio, committed to USC today. He is ranked the No. 1 cornerback in the nation by Rivals. Maybe more surprising is that Iowa (31-13, 20-4) is atop the Big Ten standings. Iowa! It’s the 1965 USC-UCLA game at the Coliseum. By removing the strength coach, USC is showing Lincoln Riley isn’t calling the shots. It must really rankle a control freak like Riley. I feel I need to repeat this because not everyone reads the blog daily: Bowden was hired … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Who Runs The Program?

Lincoln Riley Fires Strength Coach

USC coach Lincoln Riley fired his long-time strength coach Bennie Wylie today. For several years, I have questioned the effectiveness of the strength program and no one else seemed to raise concerns. Remember last year, when the media bought into the propaganda that the football team had gained 1,400 pounds of muscle prior to the season? Did USC look stronger last season? Think back to … Continue reading Lincoln Riley Fires Strength Coach
