USC Morning Buzz: Post-Spring Needs Change
I’m told that in post-scrimmage conversations, USC’s coaching staff would like to add 2 defensive tackles; 1-2 offensive linemen; a wide receiver and perhaps even a tight end, if a suitable candidate is available. There even some consideration to adding another linebacker but that was a backburner issue. This certainly sounds like more activity than was projected about 4-5 weeks ago by Lincoln Riley. It’s … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Post-Spring Needs Change
USC Adds Another Basketball Transfer
USC just added its third recruit of the day as Boise State guard Chibuzo Agbo committed to the Trojans. Agbo, who is 6-7, was Boise State’s second-leading scorer, averaging 13.7 points per game last season. He also shot 40.9 percent on 3-pointers. He was reportedly seeking $500,000 in NIL money. So we have a pretty good idea of the roster now: Agbo, Bowling Green forward … Continue reading USC Adds Another Basketball Transfer
USC Notes: Coaches Trying Hard For Wide Receiver
There was a club basketball showcase over the weekend and during a game, you know what a couple coaches said? That a coach of one of top five high school programs in California was already upset from dealing with Eric Musselman. I didn’t take their word for it, so I checked with someone who has known the high school coach for years to check it … Continue reading USC Notes: Coaches Trying Hard For Wide Receiver
Morning Buzz: A Lot Going On At USC
USC got a commitment Sunday from Florida State cornerback Greedy Vance. Vance appeared in all 14 games with five starts last season and recorded 18 tackles, one interception and three pass breakups. He was competing to play nickel back at Florida State spring practice. It shows USC’s coaching staff isn’t as confident as some fans regarding the secondary. Wright did not participate in spring practice … Continue reading Morning Buzz: A Lot Going On At USC
It’s A Slow Rebuild For Eric Musselman
Eric Musselman inherited a non-roster at USC, so he needs to be aggressive taking players. But did you expect his first commitments would be players who were All-Big Sky; All-Big West; All-Ivy League and All-Atlantic 10? The latest is Saint Thomas, a 6-7 junior from Northern Colorado who averaged 19.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game this past season. It’ll be interesting to … Continue reading It’s A Slow Rebuild For Eric Musselman
USC Sunday Buzz: Some Spring Game Thoughts
I’m trying to remember when a spring game really mattered at USC. The day before the 2003 spring game, Pete Carroll named Matt Leinart the starting quarterback. Leinart then looked average in the spring game. Did it mean anything for the fall? Nope. But with a marquee program like USC, the hype sometimes becomes so overwhelming, a spring game can either confirm or contradict it. … Continue reading USC Sunday Buzz: Some Spring Game Thoughts
