USC Morning Buzz: No More Hiding Behind Alex Grinch

Shaun Nua is co-interim defensive coordinator this week and seems to be pretty unscathed from criticism by the media/fans this season. Should he be? The defensive line has been pretty awful, frankly. USC’s run defense is ranked 118th in the nation out of 130 teams. The Trojans let Washington rush for 316 yards; Cal rush for 235 and Utah for 247. The Strange Handling Of Raleek Brown

As if there isn’t enough weird things gone on at USC this season, Raleek Brown played against Washington. Now I understand why it happened: Brown is allowed to play in the final three games and still protect his redshirt season. By playing him, USC is also trying to keep him from transferring. There’s not a reason in the world why it can’t. We’ll continue to take the steps we have to do to do it and we’re going to be very aggressive that … Continue reading Lincoln Riley Explains Alex Grinch Firing

A Name For Defensive Coordinator’s Search

If you missed my radio appearance with Petros Papadakis, I mentioned Kris Richard as a possible candidate for the defensive coordinator’s position. Not because he is a former USC player but because he has a strong reputation as a coach with the Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints. He served as defensive coordinator with the Seahawks and Saints. One possible issue for Lincoln … Continue reading A Name For Defensive Coordinator’s Search
