USC Morning Buzz: When Is Northwestern Game?

USC opens its season against Missouri State, which is making its FBS debut. “USC will do whatever it wants in the season opener,” College Football News unsurprisingly writes in its season preview of the Bears. Lincoln Riley must be thrilled. USC is selling this shirt in the bookstore with the wrong date for the Northwestern game. It obviously printed the shirt before the game got … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: When Is Northwestern Game?

You Can’t Always Judge Coaches By Awards

This is pretty funny. When John Bolton was named NCAA West Region men’s assistant coach of the year last week, he had already left the USC track and field program. Never mind that four Big Ten teams made it last year in the 12-team format. He wants four guaranteed slots. Actually, he wants USC to be guaranteed a playoff slot. That’s how … Continue reading Saturday Buzz: Here Is What Lincoln Riley Wants

If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column

Brandon Arrington, the No. 1 cornerback in the nation, committed to Texas A&M on Thursday. At one time, USC was a strong contender for Arrington. Well, here they are together on the 1976 Playboy All-American team: A UNIQUE RIVALRY In 1948, USC tied the No. 2-ranked Irish, 14-14, before 100,571 at the Coliseum. Notre Dame quarterback Frank Tripucka got injured in the game and four … Continue reading If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column
