Jen Cohen has a $1 million buyout in her Washington contract, which shows you how much Carol Folt wanted her. That would have been a poison pill for some universities but not USC, where money is not an issue when it really wants something. I’ve heard USC severed ties with Mike Bohn on pretty reasonable terms but there’s still a lot of money being thrown … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Don’t Worry It’s Only Money
The Jen Cohen press conference was a testament to bureaucracy. You had the following people speak at the podium: Joel Curran, chief communications officer Carol Folt, university president Jen Cohen, athletic director Suzanne Nora Johnson, chair of the Board of Trustees Andrew Guzman, provost Alan Green, faculty athletic representative The only thing missing were Shecky Greene and Slappy White. Carol Folt said at the press conference that Jen Cohen will start working at Heritage Hall tomorrow. This press conference was bloated by even USC standards. There were five speakers besides Cohen. She doesn’t have any skeletons and knows the landscape. … Continue reading USC To Hire Washington Athletic Director Jen Cohen
Did you go to the Salute to Troy on Friday night? First, the good. USC ditched the campus hospitality food service and brought back the long-time restaurant/caterer that did previous Salute to Troys before last year. I wrote about this problem last month and a big mistake was fixed. Second, former USC tailback Rod McNeil appeared for the 1973 reunion and answered some questions for … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: The Good And Bad Of The Weekend
L.A. Times columnist Bill Plaschke predicted USC would go 12-0 in the regular season. But he stopped there, apparently, with predictions. Theoretically, 12-0 doesn’t mean you make the College Football Playoff because you could still lose in the Pac-12 title game. Well, at least he didn’t say Los Angeles belongs to UCLA. Then again, that didn’t work out too well so maybe saying USC will … Continue reading Is USC Going Undefeated?
