USC Morning Buzz: Wednesday Notes

  • USC forward Chimezie Metu worked out with the Lakers this morning. Fortunately, Metu is completely healthy for the workout after sitting out the NIT, which was nearly two months ago.
  • By the way, a source with the basketball program tells me USC it is confident it will land forward Onyeka Okongwu of Chino Hills, who is ranked the No. 19 player in the nation by Rivals.com.
  • USC obviously believes it now has a pipeline to the Compton Magic basketball team, where new assistant Eric Mobley previously coached.
  • Oh, and today is former USC coach Lane Kiffin’s birthday!

  1. Lane Kiffin Birthday Party Update: Lane & Scott were spotted entering Beverly Hills Hotel wearing “Incredibles 2” party hats (receptionist reports the two laughing hysterically about day Lane barred Scott from attending practice).

  2. Metu was a “ruin” in sheeps clothing. He quit on the team when they went to the NIT playoffs. Still not happy with that decision that he made. I hope he gets stuck playing with Lonzo Ball. He is medicore at best.
