- Many assumed freshman linebacker Palaie Gaoteote would be awarded No. 55 because he was a five-star linebacker and comes with high expectations from Bishop Gorman.
But it looks like Gaoteote will wear No. 1, according to a staff member.
Maybe some of the former No. 55’s (Willie McGinest, Chris Claiborne) expressed an objection like two years ago when Clay Helton briefly gave it to Cameron Smith before being forced to switch.
- JT Daniels will wear 18; Amon-Ra St. Brown will wear 8. Those were their numbers at Mater Dei.
- The USC women’s track team is projected to finish fifth at today’s final day of the NCAA championships. The USC men finished fourth.
- Obviously, former USC guard Nick Young won an NBA title last night with Golden State. But there is another USC connection: Warriors center JaVale McGee is the son of former USC All-American Pam McGee.

Michael, question, who else besides Soward wore 18? I don’t know but I’m sure they were successful on the field.

A real disappointment with the Women of Troy in Track if they do finish
fifth. All that talent although it is concentrated in not that many events. No
body in the weights or Pole Vault or 800M. Four low hurdlers with not one
even qualifying for the finals. There are 18 scholarships available on the women side so no excuses. Coach Smith-Gilbert not as highly rated in my
book. Ron Allice won a title and finished 2nd and 3rd in a three year span
with Angela Williams leading the way if memory serves me correctly.
