Bernard Schirmer, the controversial offensive lineman who made headlines in 2016 when he appeared to strike a referee during a game against Ventura College, has decided to attend Utah.
Schirmer visited USC last week after previously visiting Utah. He will enroll at Utah this year and be eligible to play immediately.
Schirmer was never charged by the Ventura County district attorney’s office because investigators were not sure they could convince jurors the contact was made intentionally and on purpose.
Schirmer said he often attempted to calm himself down by hitting himself on the helmet and accidentally hit the referee. You can see video of the incident here.
Schirmer (6-foot-6, 290 pounds) graduated from Lakewood High School in 2015.

SC only recruits receivers. I don’t even understand why SC went after him.

Well being positive I can say I wish him the best because he’s a local. And I am positive I am happy he chose to play elsewhere, he was a gamble and time will tell if he’s volatile or misunderstood.
