If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column

With Ykili Ross leaving the USC football program, how many members of the Class of 2016 are no longer on the team? Ross, E.J. Price, Jamel Cook, Cary Angeline, Nathan Smith and Jack Jones.

Angeline, who transferred to North Carolina State, must sit out the first three games this season before he is eligible.

  • As an experiment, I called two sports bars this week to see if they would show the USC-UNLV game. Neither carried the Pac-12 Network.
  • Sources tell me safety Ykili Ross left the USC program because he was upset with his role. The irony is Ross might be starting Saturday after Bubba Bolden was suspended.
  • USC’s lost three defensive backs (Bolden, Ross, Je’Quari Godfrey) in a week. Redshirt freshman Greg Johnson will start over Isaiah Langley at cornerback.
  • USC coach Clay Helton spoke at the Pasadena Quarterbacks Club today.
  • The Seattle Times notes Washington’s 2015 recruiting class was ranked No. 7 in the Pac-12. It featured quarterback Jake Browning, tailback Myles Gaskin, left tackle Trey Adams and linebacker Ben Burr-Kirven.
  • Later today, I’ll make my USC-UNLV game prediction.

      2. I wish the coaches could see the work that Scott does for all of us minus their personal dislike for whatever it is. I don’t know. I am the least of you all…..it would be nice if one coach a week, starting with Coach Helton, give Scott a call and give him 5 minutes of love so we may prosper….and, Scott must be overly conscientious and not tarry too long, but still ask what’s on his mind and heart all while being cogniscent.

    1. UNLV put 21 on Ohio State last year. Our score will be 45 or more because their defense sucks and cant stop our run, the JT will start to open up to the gamers.

      2. Western Michigan and I had a great laugh at your post. Don’t be surprised if we look like crap tomorrow. On a note from Wolf’s post, the coaches not treating Cary Angeline very well or giving him a large role is an unnecessary tragedy. He’d be All-American here, and just a huge weapon. Freaking Clay and Tee.

  4. Two sports bars? Why so many? Great sampling. Be honest, did you call those two because you already knew they didn’t have the PAC 12? The thing that is most true about you Mr. Wolf is that you are consistent.

  7. This is Pedersen’s 5th year as head coach @ WA. It does make sense WA is tops in the Pac-12 North and ‘should’ prevail whether they win or lose to Auburn tomorrow in ATL 12:30 pm PDT kickoff ‘but’ should WA lose their shot at the ‘final four is over – the rest of their OOC schedule is weak – ND Fighting Hawks and BYU Cougars – both @ WA. In addition the sole tough road games they have are @ UT (15th Sept.) and @ OR (13th Oct.) they have a very weak November for making a mark – their entire shot is tomorrow against Auburn.
