USC Quick Thought

How happy would USC fans be with Clancy Pendergast back as defensive coordinator if Sam Darnold had not pulled off a memorable comeback in the 2017 Rose Bowl?

I really never hear anyone mention that Pendergast gave up four Penn State touchdowns in four offensive plays.

Can you imagine if USC lost 42-27? What would the reaction to Pendergast be?

Another reason the USC coaches owe Darnold.

  1. I blast you with facts when you are wrong, SW, so this time I will agree with you. Clancy needed to get canned 2 years ago.
How fitting that Kliff K will bring a Big 12 offense to the team while Clancy, in the meantime, will do his best to bring a Big 12 D to the team.

  2. They never would have been in that Rose Bowl if Clancy Pendergast hadn’t snuffed out the Washington Huskies in Seattle. That was a dominant defensive performance. #selectivememory

  3. And you and your “owe darnold” narrative. What if Darnold hadn’t turned the ball over more than 117 other D1 teams? Maybe we squeeze another win or two out of his second year to get us into the Playoff?

  4. I’m glad Clancy Pendergast is still the defensive coordinator, because it’s his contributions that will finally lead to a new coaching staff 😃

  5. PK is being crushed by AL already down 0 – 21 in the 1st qtr. The real injustice was letting the con job aka ‘the princess’ even in the discussion. 30+ years and counting since Tony Rice crushed USC and Rodney Peete at the Coliseum…think of all the national champions in the BCS & CFB era: TN, NE, FL ST, FL, OH ST., Miami, Auburn, LSU, Clemson, OK, TX, and USC.

If they ever play Clemson or Fl St or Miami, in the same year they will not play either of the other two…they never have to go through a 13th game – OOC. Man AL looks invincible but, aside from OH St., Clemson IS the sole team that can truly match-up
