Oklahoma Does Not Act Like USC

Did you see Oklahoma hired co-Ohio State defensive coordinator Alex Grinch?

This is how real schools operate.

Go out and get someone who has performed. Washington State’s defense went from one of the worst in the nation to being ranked No. 34 when he left in 2017.

Here is turnovers forced by Washington State:

2015 – 24

2016 – 23

2017 – 28

What does USC do? It keeps Clancy Pendergast as defensive coordinator after the defense intercepted four passes in 2018, the fewest since the school began keeping statistics in 1955. USC has had single-digit interception totals only three times since 1955.

Oklahoma has made the College Football Playoff the past two years. USC went 5-7.

  1. You hit the nail on the head Scottie about pursuing winners to make progress as a team. The philosophy of going with someone who has demonstrated they can make it happen on the field has been a common practice with the NFL and college football for a very long time. So when the college season commences, we will see what college teams will rise to the occasion with the winning coaches they hired. In addition, we will see teams like SC who may not have been completely prudent with who they brought in and/or fired; and watch them wonder why the LA Colescium has two-thirds of the seats empty at kickoff time on Saturday.

  2. They just hire the most sought-after OC in the nation (college and pro), and SC is not a “real school.” There’s no satisfying a journo-troll. If SC had hired Grinch, you’d still call SC “not a real school” because Clay would be the head coach and/or because Swann is the AD and/or because they have an interim President. Lest you forget, you called Pete Carroll a clown hire, and mocked him as Caesar while winning multiple titles…. You crapped all over Clay after finishing #3 in the nation. Blah Blah Blah….

    1. Rarely if ever do I agree with you ‘but’ in this instance, you are ‘spot on’. Don”t let it go to your head graduate from 2000 forward…the reality is how hard it is to find a top-tier coach…again don’t go ‘female’ with ‘outrage’….the one thing every top tier program (i.e. OH St.) fears is the abandonment of their program by their top tier coach. Consider, from 1992 to 2009 – a full 17 yrs. – AL was nowhere near national prominence. Miami 1991 to 2018…27 yrs…. NE 1997 to 2018…21 yrs. PA St….1986 to 2018….32 yrs….’blank’ ‘the princess’ in So. Bend-IN.

      See a trend here – aside from that fraud show aka ‘the princess’? Finding a truly gifted coach is not easy any more than it is in any endeavor in life.

      1. Why don’t you focus on hiring some clown for your mens basketball program and leave the search for a resurrection of what you fear to we USC alums who understand what is needed.

        Any day now some clown is going to morph into ‘the peckerwood’ but mind you white bread, he better have a real ‘gangster’ (Sam Gilbert) in tow….the ‘pecekrwood’…his favorite song for him “Oh come let us adore him!”
