Greg Johnson Returns To Practice

USC cornerback Greg Johnson, who placed his name in the NCAA transfer portal, is dressed and at Howard Jones Field for today’s practice. What he can do is limited because he is still injured.

I reported yesterday Johnson met with Clay Helton and was leaning toward returning to the team.

UPDATED: Johnson participated in the entire practice so his shoulder injury is apparently OK.

In other news:

  • Blind long snapper Jake Olson will bench press at USC’s pro day on March 20 to raise money for retinoblastoma cancer research.
  • Former USC pitcher and baseball Hall of Famer Tom Seaver has been diagnosed with dementia, according to a statement released by his family. He will no longer make public appearances.

“The family is deeply appreciative of those who have supported Tom throughout his career … and who do so now by honoring his request for privacy.”

His career stats: Seaver was three-time National League Cy Young Award winner and the 1967 National League Rookie of the Year. He was 311-205 and had a 2.86 ERA, 3,640 strikeouts and 61 shutouts from 1967-86.

  • Arizona defeated USC, 76-48, in the first round of the Pac-12 women’s basketball tournament.

  1. Growing up, there were only a few guys I’d pay to watch work…front row seat, though, so you could see up close their mechanics and sheer brut force and leg drive. Tom was one of them! I love the picture of big league Trojans at the All Star game showing their Trojan T-shirt’s under their game jerseys before the game…beautiful! Tom had his Trojan t shirt on under his Met Jersey. Awesome! What a stud!

  2. Today a former 5* linebacker and usc commit who flipped to the ruins posted on line his leaving football. I know at times I was cold and crass when bringing him up in discussion with some of the ruins who come here. Well seems he’s found himself and all is well, and I’ll no longer have to ask “where’s Mique”. He has been shown the door by chocolate chip and is no longer on the team.

  3. What a disgrace with women basketball losing by almost 30 to Arizona
who had the same Pac-12 record in regular season. Another Head coach
not ready for prime time who can’t recruit worth a damn. The Galen Ctr.
has become a morgue to basketball and volleyball these days. Hang
Swann from the rafters ( not racist) for his inability to recognize an
athletic dept. in ruins. Baseball to be included with throwing out the trash.
