USC Morning Buzz: An NFL Draft Prediction

An NFL coach tells me he expects USC cornerback Iman Marshall and safety Marvell Tell to get drafted.

“I’m guessing rounds 4-6,” the coach said. “One of them could sneak into late third round. Marshall could be switced to safety.”

Surprised?

  • A memorial for offensive tackle Pete Adams was held Saturday. Among those who attended were former USC players Ron Yary, Steve Riley and Sandy Durko. Also there was former Cleveland Browns quarterback Brian Sipe, where Adams also played. Although Adams was teammates with Pat Haden, J.K. McKay and Lynn Swann, I hear the trio was not in attendance.

  1. it is nice to see the older alumni pay their respects. What is it with Swann that he can’t show up? I know, it will interfere with all the work he does. Guy is a joke

    1. I believe that Adams was the left tackle, so he saved Haden’s bu*t many times. If true, hard to believe that not one of those guys could attend, particularly Haden.

      1. I’m just wondering how many guys he played with? Maybe 120+ at SC, and his various pro teammates? Yet only four were listed. Could it be that it was a private ceremony and not an SC based service at his family’s request? Yes. They asked for privacy and received it.

      2. Pete Adams, an All-American offensive tackle on USC’s 1972 national championship team whose scruffy dog served as a popular mascot of that title squad, died on April 6 in Leucadia of natural causes. He was 67….
Adams is survived by his sister, Ann; brother, Michael; their spouses; a nephew and several nieces. A memorial celebration will be held at 2 p.m. April 20 at the Encinitas Elks Lodge in Cardiff.

This memorial celebration at the Elks Lodge was published in the USC News section: https://news.usc.edu/155893/in-memoriam-pete-adams-1972-usc-trojans/

so it was open to the public and all his teammates could have come, but chose not to, including Pat Haden, J.K.McKay and Lynn Swann. Shame on them.

      3. Here’s Erik’s quote of a note he received from the family to be passed on:

“Just wanted to pass along that the Celebration of Life will not be open to the general public. Here is a note from the family: “His Celebration of Life is open to Peter’s friends and family and will be held Saturday, April 20, from 2:00-5:00 pm at the Elks Lodge in Cardiff.”

As for dress, this will not be a USC-themed service.

The family thanks everyone for understanding.”

So as you can see, it wasn’t open to the public and maybe we shouldn’t be using the death of a fellow alum to drive deeper wedges.

  2. Scott,
Even though it’s you, and you are not the captain of moral courage, or any courage for that matter. This is so disrespectful. Using a funeral service of a former Trojan to further your agenda. New low for you.

I enjoy your snark, I thought it was all a show for clicks and we are in on it. I’d come here knowingly that you would write something to anger the USC fans, it was kind of fun.

But it turns out you are just a sad little jerk.

    1. Thanks for posting that article, Pudly. [You’re right —- besides the lack of oversight on the part of some administrators, a major contributing factor to the large number of academically unqualified students seeking illicit admission to USC (thereby risking a lifetime taint attaching to their degree) is the fact that a degree from UCLA, whatever the circumstances of admission, automatically carries lifelong taint]…..
      #USC:WorthTheRisk
      P.S.
How would you like to be one of the applicants CURRENTLY in the admissions pipeline aided by fake documents for walk on status? Maybe it would be smart to send a letter to the Registrar’s Office saying, “Upon further reflection, I have decided to take my D average, substandard test scores and rowing/kicking/swimming prowess elsewhere and hereby withdraw my application from consideration. Sorry for the trouble.”

      1. MG, Pusley’s cat could enroll as a freshman and achieve a Clown U Ph.D. in catnip if Pusley could afford it. A worthless Clown U degree doesn’t come cheap, but it should.
