Is Matt Fink Planning A Reunion?

Could Matt Fink possibly join his former USC teammates Trevon Sidney and Oluwole Betiku at Illinois?

Illini QB M.J. Rivers said Saturday he is transferring to another school. Fink might visit Illinois after finals but there are still three other quarterbacks on the Illinois roster.

It’s no secret the Illini are looking to add a quarterback. Penn State graduate transfer Tommy Stevens is scheduled to visit today and Monday.

Wherever Fink goes, he better make sure it’s a place where he can start. Otherwise, it will be a waste of time. So if Stevens picks Illinois, that would be foolhardy.

The guy who probably did it right with little fanfare was former USC WR Jalen Greene, who transferred to Utah State and caught 44 passes for 689 yards and six TDs for a team that went 11-2 last season. That’s better than staying at USC and going 5-7 while JT Daniels passes to Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Greene actually committed to Illinois before switching to Utah State. I still think he would have been better off though if he had left USC after his freshman year and played quarterback at UNLV, which he considered doing.

  • St. John Bosco QB DJ Uiagalelei will announce his college choice (Clemson or Oregon) at 12 p.m. today.
  • Wide receiver Gary Bryant of Corona Centennial said he will announce his college choice on Jan. 4. Glad he gave us eight months notice.

  1. As most clownster rah-rahs recall, Greene’s Utah St. wiped out Harrell’s No. Tixas St. team 52 -13 in the 2018 New Mexico Bowl.

    1. Yeah —but you keep forgetting that Harrell’s 2018 team didn’t have Clay and Clancy on the sidelines…..

  2. Are we still going to pretend Matt Fink transferring is a huge loss just to take shots at Helton & Co? As bad as things are now, can you imagine actually having Fink on the field this year? The guy is terrible. When he had to step in for JT vs Stanford, it was painfully obvious.

It’s not like there aren’t a million other reason to take shots at this inept staff.
