USC Morning Buzz: Can Someone Clean Up Another Mess?

An assistant to USC president Carol Folt contacted former linebacker Bob Jensen to discuss honoring the 1969 team.

If Jensen can actually speak to Folt, it will probably not be a good day for the athletic dept., which has strung him along despite the fact he has organized the team into boycotting the fall scrimmage on Aug. 17 at the Coliseum.

One thing that bothers the 1969 players is USC plans an on-field recoginition of three teams (1969, 1994, 2009) from 4 p.m. to 4:05 p.m. That’s five minutes for 3 teams.

  • USC is No. 37 in the Orlando Sentinel‘s preseason ranking of all 130 FBS teams.
  • Former USC QB Mark Sanchez will retire after an eight-year NFL career according to the New York Post, to become a college football studio analyst for ESPN/ABC.
  • USC basketball will skip the Oregon schools at the Galen Center and the Bay Area road trip as part of the 2019-20 Pac-12 schedule.

    SC is nothing but a big dumpster fire. They are a joke. Folt needs to clean house. The longer than that no good Swann stays there, the more likey he is to think he is safe. I am seriously thinking of not renewing my tickets for the 2020 season. If things are the same with a 6-6 record, Swann and Helton there, and all the scandals going on, I could use my money else ware. We will see.

    That’s the best way to support the team and players because the sooner those two idiots are out of there (fired) the better off Trojan football will be.

    Whoever USC gets to replace Swann and Helton can’t do any worse.

      USC preseason ranked in the 30’s? That’s shameful and embarrassing considering where the Trojans recruiting classes have been ranked.

      Not only that, the new bozo OC’s last game at No. Tixas State as the OC was slapped around 52 – 13 by Utah State.

      That’s the problem with a run and gun Offense, the Defense is often on the field too long and runs out gas along about mid-third qtr., vs smash-mouth FB

    This celebration plan, which was done at the very last minute, is completely unacceptable for a university with the football tradition of USC.

This reminds me of the lazy, stupid, visionless incompetent F Troop administrators at the local high school who decided the best way to honor the 30th year anniversary of the school’s CIF football championship was to load the players on a flatbed truck, drive around the track oval once and then dump them out. I remember how thrilled the players were afterwards.

  5. USC has repeatedly said that the university wants to focus more on academics in order to portray itself as the Duke of the west.

    USC is hoping that other universities take notice and realize how smart the Trojan administation and BoT have become, the center pieces of USC’s higher academia decision making are Lynn Swann being chosen as Athletic Director and Clay Helton being given a contract extension…USC paying Lynn Swann $3+ Million Dollars a year and Clay Helton $4+ Million Dollars a year to run USC’s Athletic Dept. and Football Program into the ground.

    That’s how smart the higher-ups at USC have become.
